I don't think peh is crap, but i also don't see what a lot of others see in him.
He's what I think of as old spurs, probably slightly too good for us 10 years ago but now not quite good enough.
But fans don't think rationally, its what we do.

With respect, I think Conte would chuckle at the notion of PEH not being good enough / being referred to as a "crap player", the guy isn't picked pretty much every game by accident. Happy for him to remain underrated even by our own fans though.

Interestingly off the top of my head the only clubs in the pl that don't need a player like him are Emirates Marketing Project and Chelsea...

There is certainly a reason for that though, he has benefitted from lack of competition be it from it being Wink and Ndombele for a long time and then Bentacur coming in when SKipp had been injured. When Bissouma is firing fit he is most certainly a better upgrade on him and when Skipp is back that fight for the final place will show how much he is rated TBH.

Other clubs have a version of PEH but they are generally better if we are being honest. Rice, Kante, Fabinho, Phillips, Rodri, Soucek, Tielemans

Soucek is nowhere near as good as Hojberg in my opinion, also Tielemans is a different style player I think, Leicester’s version would be Ndidi.

Soucek is a very good player but him aside there are ALOT of players in the league in that role who are ALOT better. Tielemans plays in a midfield two and looks different because he is better on the ball in my opinion.

PEH is not good enough in a midfield 2 if we want to compete over a long period with the big boys both here and abroad.

And with even more respect i never said peh was crap, the point i was making is that even Madrid buy crap players, being purchased by them doesn't mean the player is great.

PEH is a player that does good things that you don’t see on the pitch unless you look for them … for example closes down space, keeps the shape of the team, intercepts balls, breaks up play … but admittedly don’t do amazing with the things you see, forward passing, shooting, getting involved in building up attacks consistently.

he is a very good player but admittedly can be upgraded upon. Yves should give him a serious run on the starting line once he has settled in.

Played on a yellow most of the game today. Still left on the pitch for the full game. Perhaps Conte was saving Bissouma for the move to a midfield three, but still. I think it shows how highly Conte rates him.

I do hope that Bissouma puts pressure on him, as well as Skipp. If one of them outperforms PEH that would be a very good thing for us. I'm thinking it will take quite a lot because PEH is a very good player. Sure, not very top level, but still very good.

My fear is that Conte sees Bissouma as more competition for Bentancur rather than PEH who seems to be a bit of an untouchable.

Right... you literally saying he wasn't quite good enough and was a kind of player we'd have had ten years ago maybe threw me off the scent of what your main point was!

Another solid performance from him yesterday, upping his game in the second half - Hope that isn't too annoying for those clamouring to see him dropped :)

Solid?

I must have a real blind spot with this player as he was one of the worst on the pitch to me. Gave away possession through bad passing and dallying on the ball multiple times throughout the game, putting us under pressure when doing so. Held on to the ball too long and passed the ball negatively which slowed down counter attacks.

I was particularly impressed with his dawdling on the ball when Perisic was through, losing it then and left on his backside. That was top class

This is not aimed at you but I honestly think his self PR "warrior" and chest beating blinds some fans to his limited ability.

Yes he works hard, yes he has some good games, but in a role that is crucial to every club he is the weakest link for me now

Fair enough, I imagine you've already heard the inverse argument of him doing the unseen dirty work etc Don't think anyone is going to change their views on the player at this stage, and that includes Conte who happens to rate him highly, much like every other Spurs manager he has played under, and Pep under Bayern.....But yes he did fall over, that is true.

Like said before have they all loved him or played them when they had to? I mean its an argument to go on forever but in those managers you mention, one was Nuno and Pep sold him so its not so black and white.

But respect your view, like you say views likely not to change. Happy Sunday and COYS

Likewise mate!

A fair point on whether managers have been forced in to playing him, I see it as him being dependable but always depends on perspective. Either way it's great we've got a bit more competition in Bissouma, just a damn shame on the Skipp front.

I really hope on the Skipp situation is not one of those where he now struggles to string together games and is only an unfortunate blip
