The down side is attackers would have a field day at our far post and in the free space both leave as neither seem to like tracking back.

We have Kulu as right wing forward, are you saying play ASM as a wing back? I could see Traore being converted to a wing back because the pace would get him out of trouble but ASM?
 
Sure it's been said that Eriksen wants to play in the CL, no doubt United will make up for that wish by offering £500k a week

its more for games where we’re at a deadlock or behind, and with 5 at the back we should have enough with midfielders ready to cover too

Well we know Conte and Paratici were looking at Traore for this role and that Conte has converted other attackers into WBs in the past.

I think the reason for the rumour is because his agent wants every club in Europe to know he has a release clause. Similarly Traore has flopped in Spain and needs to appear in demand again. With Kulu and Moura, I don't think we'll be looking at a RWF at all.

I don’t think they were looking at Traore as a wing back. I think he was being looked at as a RWF option with us eventually signing Kulu for that position instead (and what a stroke of luck Barca coming in for Traore turned out to be!)

I think we’ll be looking for an attacking player who could play as 7, 9 or 11. That’s why I think Rashford could be a smart signing.

When Kulu signed Conte referenced he could play WB. Moses he converted into a WB. Perisic too.

Even if you forget all that, do you think Conte and Paratici didn't have the same reaction as many of us, watching the team unable to score against Wolves with them giving Royal all the space in the world because they knew he was benign? More attacking threat down the wings was possibly our greatest need last season, don't you think?

Players can be moved around, but that attacking dribbling player is missing. Moura is the closest thing, but not quite there, and its telling that Conte often turns to him first.

I think we'll see a lot of Perisic at 7 and 11. And Conte has always liked proper CFs, so I think we'll go for a genuine backup #9 this time - like Brereton or that Scamacca we keep being liked with.

It shows that conte had NO options in his opinion which was true as he only had moura and Bergwein as attackers
One he sees as a CF and the other I’m not exactly sure but he isn’t a RWF
Attacking dribbling players aren’t needed if the basics are embedded. Royal couldn’t do the attacking basics, it’s not his strength and it’s something he would have to improve on. Doherty does get the attacking side and we saw that when he was played his correct role and position
The wolves game you mentioned we were really lacking Kulu. An affective wide right player.

No chance IMO
He has been brought for his versatility as wing back. Our area of biggest weakness (we only have one experienced wing back alongside him)
Conte sent him on loan at inter because he couldn’t play with wing forward role he needed him too. He went to Bayern and changed his game to become the excellent wing forward that we have seen the last few years

Conte didn’t mention Kulu could play WB, convert these attackers to WB, and Royal wasn’t given freedom to attack against wolves? It’s clear the management are interested in having a slightly different option in the squad to offer direct attacks down the wing. Hence Traore and maybe explains SM now.

They they have that option now with Perisic
He can play either side and play in the way conte wants
He doesn’t go for players who are chaotic, he goes for control
Traore was all about a deal that we thought could be done for a decent price
ASM is his agent trying to get him a better contract
Neither are players conte would want at wing back IMO although I can see the logic still in Traore as his value has decreased further and he is a handful
Not sure what you mean royal wasn’t given freedom to attack wolves by the way. He didn’t start be wolves (assume you mean the 2 nil defeat?) but in his 8 minutes in the pitch he didn’t create much I’d agree

maybe it was a different game but I thought Wolves just gave him the freedom of the final third. Could have been Brighton? Marked Son and Kane out the game and Royal had so much space which he did nothing with.

Probably Watford away you mean. That was the game where he got battered by everyone after the game because Watford let him have the ball and most of his crosses were poor…..
