Eric Dier

Yeah, if Levy had purchased a replacement in the summer of 2018 that would’ve been ideal but as we didn’t recruit anyone whatsoever in that window then we might as well have (made the best of a bad situation and) just of kept Demebele around to see if he could help Pochettino bring the new recruits up to speed; as losing out on his £5m transfer fee is peanuts compared to the £130m outlay on Ndombele + Lo Celso + Sessegnon and missing out on CL football for these past 3 seasons.
It was all agreed with Moussa himself and this is what he wanted

A pity then that Levy wouldn’t let Eriksen or Dele leave at the earliest opportunity too then, as at least we could’ve commanded huge transfer fees for those 2 when they were in their pomp.
With hindsight sure, but I don't think our new stadium came with a crystal ball room... honestly, our downturn in form might be the curse of the missing cheese room.

man’s what would the fan reaction have been?

At the very least Levy should've allowed Dele to join Pochettino at PSG last January, as he'd clearly long since lost his mojo at Spurs at that point.

I guess that Pochettino's ability to sense auras gave him that prescience which the rest of us lack and if Levy had been brave then this rebuild might not have turned into such an interminably painful one.

Yeah, our PL form nosedived around the same time as Dembele left and whilst he was on his last legs that season it might’ve been worthwhile keeping Moussa around a little longer if only to see if he could’ve been a mentor for Ndombele and help Tanguy acclimatise.

I think Dembele leaving was a coincidence rather than the instigator. That was the season that followed the summer of no recruitment iirc and also saw 9 (?) of our players go deep in the Euros - we were running on empty

Doesn't matter. The fans reaction to all their other decisions never matter either. The fans would have gotten it swiftly if the new players had improved us.

Makes a huge difference having players who want the ball
He did have some poor passes
He did all his defensive duty so well though
Was excellent

Great to have him back, and he's a player which I like, HOWEVER the biggest benefit in having him back isnt how good he is, its more how poor the squad is and how much of a drop it is to his replacement

He is a vocal player at the back which we seemed to have missed, not afraid to speak his mind to other players, including the Captain. Said it many times, he would be my Captain over Lloris and Kane.
Never been a fan of a keeper-skipper and I prefer Kane just to have to worry about scoring and assisting without the burden of the armband.

Actually it’s because he communicates and makes players accountable
When he had a go at Hugo it was blinding

There was one time in particular that he shouted and pushed the defence up then seconds later City are caught offside in a dangerous move.

Great to see him back at his best after problems with illness over the last couple of years. Should be capt imo and i am looking forward to him building a top partnership with Romero.
