Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

And whether I win or lose in this is immaterial - I'm one voice in hundreds of thousands. But hopefully I can change minds so more people see the situation for what it is, in time. And when ENIC goes, we can all dream again - I will take that as a personal win
I think it was 18 that turned up to the deadline day training ground protest, so plenty of minds to change.

For one whom so vehemently detests our owners I'd expect you to be there on the front line.

Leaning towards it, yeah. I kept saying January was important, that it was key to avoid all the excuses from the likes of 'I hate January' Hitchen and his coward of a boss and do some actual business. We did nothing until January 31 and brought in two Juve rejects, and the plot unravelled immediately after that. To my mind, we've already failed Conte.

Probably will see another summer window where we sleep until August 31, Levy makes his usual utterly fake bid for some high-profile player to try to con people (like Diaz, Dybala, Llorente, Aguero or Rossi), and we end up with a couple of rejects/wasters or trash like Doherty. The script rarely changes, as evidenced by 20 years of how that lying deadweight operates.

If Conte is patient enough, he'll stay until then and leave once it's clear we have no intention of changing to a club that wants to win. If not, he'll walk before the end of the season and we appoint Mason again and try for Poch in the summer, appointing some no-mark like Potter when that fails.

Makes no sense for him to spend years at a club whose highest ambitions are Europa Conference League footie and hosting the NFL.

couple of questions:

did Levy back Jose in his first summer window?

how much money do we have to spend this summer for you to agree that levy has backed Conte?

Do you acknowledge that high profile targets may choose other clubs aside from us, as is their right, and that may not be the chairman’s fault?

Its not about the amount of investment, it's the right investment. Not to dither in the market, identify targets and make dam sure we push quickly and effectively. We have missed out on numerous targets through the years due to a strung out process or waiting until the 12 hour.

I agree with you 100% but its not going to get us anywhere ... Chelsea, Emirates Marketing Project have become massive global entities where when I grew up you wouldn't even hear about them unless they beat the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, Man Utd or Liverpool in the FA CUP.

The game has changed and possibly for the worse but its certainly proof that where money is invested success follows.
100% agree???.....but still want the sugar daddy?

they own the club.

Well technically the banks can call in the debt and the club is no longer theirs ... but realistically they own the club but pretend that they are great custodians and do everything possible to make us "competitive". I guess that word is very subjective.

Perhaps not a sugar daddy, someone who is willing to invest money when required, someone who will not dither in the market and genuinely wants to push the club to achieve greater targets than getting lucky or just be competitive enough to get the punters in.

Levy is not the be all or end all, and how long can he look at his model and think, wait a minute we cannot win anything under these parameters ... another 20 years?

They didn't spend anything building the stadium though. The club did and the debt is on the club's books.

They own the club.

The money from profit they could take out as dividends (for themselves) or retain the profit to invest in the business, which they did.

I find it bizarre that running a business in this way (ie the way all businesses would ideally grow) receives so much venom.

Ironically it's the way the FA Uefa etc would ideally want all clubs to run.

So who judges if they are the right investments? How long will you give them to settle? Are there other factors that determine whether a investment is as success or failure?

everybody wants the right investment but no one can predict that 100%, are you going to judge if the players brought are the right investments? What’s your qualifications for doing so?

if Kulu turns out to be better in this league than Diaz over the next 5 years, is he the right investment? Or the wrong one because we brought him on deadline day?

We don’t always delay signing players ether, just off the top of my head the following for example:

berbs
Modric
Ali
son

they own the club.
They own the club but they separate the finances and the cost of the build from their personal finances. Ie. If the club goes belly up Lewis is not personally liable for the debts. So no, the owners did not spend anything building the stadium. An asset they own acquired loans to build the stadium.

You grow the club by winning games and winning trophies. Football is not like every other business.

I can assure you we would not have brought in Kulu had we landed our priority in Diaz. And no Kulu will not turn out better i can bet you based on ability and previous.

We often go for players but settle for second, third or no choice. I understand that we will not always be able to land our targets but its just the same old story with spurs under levy.

You ve said yourself with the likes of City Chelsea (maybe Saudi Sportswashing Machine) the level of spending required is mammoth. (Although United prove that it doesn't always work). Anyone coming in has to be prepared to lose a load of cash. The prem is the most competitive league in the world. That narrows the field of new owners....mainly sugar daddies. (Most with suspect backgrounds).

Oh so they don't own it as a sole trader:rolleyes::D

Every single word Antonio Conte actually said about Tottenham in that Italian interview
The Tottenham Hotspur boss spoke to Sky Sport Italia this week and here is the full transcript of the interview including the context of the released quotes

Is Antonio Conte happy with this Tottenham at the moment?

I am certainly happy with the way we are working. I think we are doing a lot but I am realising being inside the situation that it will take time and patience because there are many young players even at their first experience in the Premier League who need to grow, gain experience and raise their level.

How character is transmitted to a team, you are a master at this. How you do it?
I think the first thing to pass on to the team is knowledge, football knowledge. If you have football knowledge, knowledge makes you strong. It gives you strength and personality.

Surely on a character level this is a team we are working on, there is daily, psychological work to try to make each player grow individually.

Is there something similar between your first Inter Milan side and this Tottenham?
Should you find something like this, it is always difficult to make comparisons, but surely when you take the job in a team that hasn't won for a long time it is inevitable that you will lack confidence. The confidence is down and many times at the first obstacle you throw yourself down and many times the negativity increases even more, sometimes you grant goals that you struggle to accept.

This has been happening to us in the last period. This is part of a process of a team that has to grow a lot to try to be competitive. Right now we are one of the many teams that are in the middle, they need to work a lot and this does not scare me at all.
It is inevitable that certainly the situation compared to the past for me is very different in terms of perspectives, ambitions, in terms of fighting to win. I realized that it's a totally different situation anyway.

Did you realise it now or at the beginning?
When you are outside you can never make certain assessments. So from the outside it may seem something different when you take over a situation it is inevitable that taking over in the current year is never easy. I promised myself not to do it because I only did it once and I promised myself not to do it.

Then there is the desire, the desire to always question oneself even in very very difficult situations such as this one of Tottenham, because Tottenham has been in the middle of the table for so many years. But here this did not scare me, I glimpsed situations that could have developed, then when you enter the situation you understand that something, however, what happened in January is not easy.

Four players left in January. Four important players for Tottenham, two have arrived. So even numerically instead of reinforcing yourself in quotes you may have, on paper, weakened.

Then precise choices were made for many reasons, but I certainly never expected that in January four players who I still considered important would change their shirts for a thousand reasons. This shows the difficulty. Tottenham in the last session of the summer transfer market and in January changed eight players.

During a press conference you said 'there were opportunities in the January market', but were there any opportunities Tottenham could have seized and missed?

It is inevitable that in January it is very difficult to get two players like Bentancur and Kulusevski to sign who, I repeat, are the ideal prospects for Tottenham. Because Tottenham is looking for young players, players to be developed, not ready players. This is the speech.

Is it possible to grow with players like that and not with ready players? You at Inter were asking for ready players to fill the gap you were talking about.
But here was the link. The vision, the philosophy of the club is this. It is inevitable that if you want to grow faster and if you want to be competitive more quickly you need players with a lot of experience because they also lead to an increase in experience in your team. But then again, the vision of the club I realised is this and will continue to be this. For this reason it will take a lot of patience, and I continue to explain it to the whole environment and to the fans.

Does Inter win the Scudetto?

(Laughs) Yes, Yes, Inter wins.

We'll see, mate. I'm proud of that little protest, as I am proud of the ones that came in 2020 on the Super League - as I am of the Levy Out chants at the United game and the Leicester game.

And yes, agreed - I'd like to be more involved, and have reached out to folks organizing those protests to see how I can support + if I can time my next visit to the UK to participate in the next one.
