Mighty Spurs vs SCBC

More beer

I shouldn’t, but I'm tempted.

Same here and also had Covid recently.
This was a chance to turn the corner, and yet the same old mistakes from Nuno and Mourhino teams still there.

At least you've recovered from Covid though, hope all is well.

Physically fine, mentally ambushed by tonight's game, but yeah - I feel recovered after three weeks of covid ups and downs, which is what's important, really. Hope the same for you.

Same. Been looking forward to his all week. I even bought a new fudging recliner to watch the game in today! fudge sake. Never gonna use it again.

That's hilarious - you should definitely throw it out. :D I'm sure all of us here could get together and buy a replacement for that cursed piece of seatery.

He just lacks the intelligence and technique
He is functional at times and has had some good games but his lack of ability on the ball along with the rest of the right hand side tonight…

Yep. And Southampton know it - the whole Premier League knows it at this point. Press Sanchez, press Hojbjerg, press Winks, press Royal, and we can't play through them - we lose every 50-50 and retreat to the edge of the box. It's because none of them have technical ability, or footballing intelligence.

This is a gigantic weakness that will haunt us for as long as we allow Davies, Sanchez et al to hang around.

Even Dier - people think he's the answer, he was benched and forgotten about in our prime when Toby + Jan were sweeping things up between them, and he was even overlooked for Sissoko + Winks in midfield. Fitness worries or not, he isn't of the standard we need to be at.

We want to be good again? Buy good players. It is not rocket science, it is the basic necessity to a functional side.

We have sunk to the level of thinking Dier, Davies et al are good enough, that Sanchez is good enough, because they have a few okay games.

They are not. Whether they have good games or bad, they are just *not* - their lack of ability will show in the end. We need better, a lot better, than them.

I know it’s standard to just hate on all our players after a defeat, but I must say I was impressed with Southampton. Can see why they drew with City and beat West Ham away with an identical score line. Thought it was a good game of football actually, shame about the result….

Who else do we play there? Doherty?

The only possible way I see our RWB situation working on now is Lucas being deployed there (and he's lazy enough tracking back that this would be a big risk).

Otherwise, we will see plenty more times why Conte asked for a RWB despite Royal having only arrived six months ago.
Yes. Doherty hasn’t been given an opportunity as a RWB under Conte.
I’d love to have got someone in in Jan, will demand it in the summer but until then I think Doherty is the lesser of two evils. Moura I think is a possibility but seems to much of a conversion at this point of the season.

My thoughts too. He had a mare with his swinger which was followed by other faults for their first goal and has been reasonable in this style. I’d prioritise Sanchez Royal PEH and Winks being replaced in the first X1.

The lad next to me (East Upper if anyone else was there) gave Winks stick for 90 minutes solid. Some of it was unfair but as the game went on I found it harder to make a case for him. He was dreadful.

The fella next to me also didn't shut his fudging mouth for 90 minutes and most of it was garbage. For that reason alone, I hope Winks starts Sunday and scores a hat trick.

£26m did we pay for Royal. What a waste of money, as I said right from the start, when rumours about him joining us began. Can't run, can't pass, can't cross, lacks awareness. The only thing he's got, is 1 vs 1 defensively, where he's actually pretty good.

Scored our 2nd too early! Only positives are Bentacur and Romero look a class above their partners. Need Skipp and Dier back asap, Doherty for Royal too please
Skip back will hopefully make a difference..Conte must play the best players we have and not give
our second rate players anymore chances..ghod it's a difficult one with what we have in the squad
because there is hardly anyone to come in with half a football brain.
Sorry to have to say that. What happened to home grown players we used to have?
Scoucers seem to produce no end of them..
Anyway it looks bar a miracle our CL hopes have gone straight down the brick bucket!

I see Davies getting a lot of stick. Did badly on the first but thought he had a decent game. Easily 4 or 5 others were much worse than him.
See the game again. Im not talking just the goals. He fake his press. He ends up on the wrong places, he gives easy corners, ha cant find the pass..
Hes been by far the worst player for Spurs this year. If I was his father I still would have sad this!

I have a mate who is down on a few of our players every game, a few who’ve shown progress under Conte but today every one of them proved him right.
I think we have a few players that it signed when it’s going well but under pressure they collapse, when there’s 4 or 5 of them on the pitch it’s hard to cover.

I really don’t.
Romero is class.
Dier has faults but is streets ahead of Sanchez and is a reasonable anchor in a back 3, which will allow Romero to play RCB and contribute to keeping the ball. Ideally without Royal next to him
Dier is a Leeds United player, Davies is a Norwich player and Sanchez is a Watford player. I am being generous to not say Championship. Yet somehow they are here and play into our first 11. Conte plays a 3 CBs system, so their short comings and mistakes can be easily repaired and weak players can easily look good. With that in mind, they manage to get 3 goals at home with Soton and we could have easily conceded 6.

We've let Southampton take 4 points from us. POssibly because they press with intensity. And it exposes this side's lack of belief and ability to pass well. The defense and midfield are too shakey to pass and move around the press. We lack some composure, ability and pomp to just say f you, we're passing round you. There isn't that belief or ability in the backline and midfield. Apply pressure to us and we wilt too easily. We need to be stronger and more resilient when pressured.
