Squad Assessment - Spring 2022

In the summer there's still the chance that real Madrid invoke Reguilon's buy-back clause. So it'd then be down to whether he wants to stay here or not.
If he's off, we immediately need to be shopping for a replacement

In Conte we trust!

Fitness has been an issue too, a striker is a little more about rhythm and confidence then other positions other than maybe keeper imo - when he scored he’s second against Leicester I think he’d have missed it if he hadn’t already scored the first!

Not sure they will. They're going to be bringing in a few in the summer. Mbappe already agreed, haaland? Pogba? They may be frees but the wages, signing on fees and agents fees will be eye watering. We'll see.

I'd hope that's the case. But the option is open to them so I'm sure the club have given a little thought to contingencies.

I’ve seen plenty name Eriksen as the player they want… a goal scoring midfielder and play maker. Conte doesn’t play that way

brozovic is very different whilst being creative

Fully in agreement.

If financially it was a choice between a more direct Kane backup and either Bentancur or Kulusevski I can definitely see why a Kane backup wasn't the priority.

A front two out of the current lot without Kane isn't exactly a disaster. Two of Son, Bergwijn, Moura and Kulusevski, looks alright to me.

Gk, 2x cbs, 2x rwbs, 2 cms, fwd, cf?

Don't expect that to be done in the summer. Especially the level required. But think we can seriously raise the level of the squad.

Shopping list for the summer for me is:

- back-up GK
- first choice RWB
- fist choice LCB
- first choice CM
- back-up CF

Will be interesting to see what happens with our CMs in the summer. We have Winks, Skipp, Bentancur and PEH, plus with Sarr arriving. I wonder whether Sarr will go out on loan to create space for a genuinely top class CM, or perhaps one of Winks or PEH will leave
 
Conte just blocked whites loan because he felt we were short in cm. So it seems he wants 5 cms in the squad. Are hjolberg and winks good enough to get in city or liverpools squads?

I’m happy with the window, more good work in balancing the squad ahead of the summer.

But come on, is that still be trotted out?

A striker would be sitting on the bench and no one would want to come here? It’s just ridiculous.
 
Talking of kessie. There was very little mention of any pre contracts agreed in jan. Other than mbappe.

Were there none or are clubs just keeping them quiet (obviously not good for utd to let everyone know pogba has already signed for real for example)?
