*** Tottenham Hotspur v Rennes *** *POSTPONED*

Can you imagine vitesse fans the next time we play them if we got awarded this game 3-0! They caused enough trouble at our place anyway.

It’s a waste of a competition for us, our first team players never even raised their game for Europa League games let alone this third rate competition. We wouldn’t of won it as our squad players aren’t good enough and our first team don’t get motivated enough. Even if we did win it, we wouldn’t get any true recognition for it. Far better to focus energy on the league, and for us to go out due to Covid would be better than the inevitable embarrassment of getting knocked out to some massively inferior side….

That says a lot about the players tbh

What about when we miss out on the wildcard CL place in a season or two time because it's tipped our co-efficient just below Arsenals?

Has it been scoped out yet how this going to work?

Is it top 3 straight in and next best co-eff joins them? And has it been ratified that this is definitely going to happen?

Was trying to find info online about it recently but couldnt find anything.

If we end 5th, 6th or 7th we are in the europa or conference next season.

Lets just hope that should that be the case, that we have a much improved squad so that we can attack more competitions competitively.

New CL format from 2024 will have 36 teams. It’s been voted in, so should happen.

So next season top 4 from England plus 2 extra teams from Europe with the highest club coefficient. Currently, I think that’s us and Arsenal (amusingly). So as it stands we could finish 5th and would still make CL.. if our coefficient drops then we likely won’t.

Can’t see anyway how we can progress if the game isn’t played. It was probably difficult to squeeze in but I’d imagine Rennes made it difficult also. I reckon it either goes down as not played or goes down as a 0-0 draw.
I'd kick out Rennes. We've got a game every 3 days till the end of the year and they've got fudge all. If they can't make a date we're proposing it's their fault. I mean, they've qualified first already. They could just send a bunch of kids. (and we could promise to play our kids too, to make it even)

If its from 2024 doesnt that mean its not next season we could finish out of the top 4 and still qualify, as it would be the season after that 2023/2024?

And when this rule comes in does it mean we could end say 15th and still get in to CL? And do you play some qualifiers or straight in the group?

You are right! Good point.
I was so blown away that next season is the 22/23 season (that came around quickly!) that it threw me off :)

Fwiw the CL changes seem quite unusual. It will be one giant league of 36 teams, you only play 10 teams (and only once); top 8 go through, next 16 have a play off.

It’s almost like it’s been setup by a lawyer to stop a European league somehow.

Seems like an absolute farce if we're out because a game that got postponed couldn't be rescheduled.

Don't think it's quite over yet, but with UEFA you never know.

Groups have to be decided by the end of the month. There is no space for us to play it before then and the French winter break starts on 22 December.

It'll be decided this weekend. You can't draw a club from your own country in the playoffs and it will disadvantage the other clubs if PSV and Leicester can't be drawn against us or Vitesse

So dropping out of the Conference league this season could cost us a CL place next season. Seems sufficiently sexy.
