ENIC

There's a lot of truth in that. It does feel that Levy is often very reactionary to, and fearful of, bad press. Which may not always be in the best interests of the club.

Exactly why I believe a general uprising against ENIC means they leave - no ifs or buts. Above all else, that chairman of ours abhors bad publicity, and fans have forced him into cringing, miserable U-turns over many of his heartless/terrible decisions recently, from putting ordinary folks struggling to get by on furlough to the Super League to Gattuso, and now to Nuno.

We have the power to run him and Lewis out of the club. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. ;)

You have to get over the furlough thing.
Many people put on furlough loved it. Not necessarily everyone but I’ve yet to hear of anyone amongst people I know who were complaining too much and many were disappointed not to get it.
The higher paid you were, the less attractive it was as furlough pay was capped. For lower paid it was less impactful especially once you deducted out of work expenses such as travel. Plus remember Levy also expected the players to play their part, which they refused to do.

Yep
100%
Heard the odd person
Same as at the train station
Are you talking about the booing or the ENIC out?
I was talking about the ENIC out chants.... It was music to my ears that many of the fans see where the real problems at our club lie... We'll see how much time Levy has bought himself with another manager sacking.

Folks at the club, the ones directly affected, did not. Ally Gold reported as much, iirc - the furlough caused a lot of bad blood at the working level at the club that persisted into the following season.

I tend to take them at their word over the idea that some folks enjoyed Levy treating them like trash at a time when society was struggling and the uber-rich PL was called upon to do its bit.

What happens when they 'leave' who picks up the keys? Is it like Iran or Lybia, fans groups fight it out for control?

The new owner, I presume. Don't get me wrong, if fan ownership came in, I would be utterly delighted - but it's likelier that they sell to Bezos or some other billionaire.

As for fan groups fighting over control, I don't see why they would if fan ownership was brought in in a structured way across the English game - but that's a far larger discussion. :)

We were never close to signing Gattusso.
I also don't believe we are sacking nuno just because the fans booed him, he was on a sticky wicket before the game. We could all see it coming, judging by nunos reactions over the last few days so could he.

Such a devisive position. Imagine trying to run a company where your customers are pulling in a different direction trying to undermine you. Both Nuno's appointment and sacking can be linked to fans baying. It really is a dangerous and negative spiral. Because it emanates from negative people who are not happy generally IMO. We're 8th in the league. We have a decent foundation, and we are no worse off than we were pre-Enic. Arguable far better off. We have a chairman who lives and breaths the club, not some errant owner who has the club as a play thing. We have a cash-generating stadium, training complex and property portfolio (owned by the club). To me the biggest concern are divisive fans, and what that could do to the club. A sell-off to a US investment consortium would be tragic and could leave us worse off IMO. No one knows. What I do know, is I can see a track record from Levy. Far from perfect over the past few years with management decisions, he has done what most fans have called for, so he hasn't been all that out of kilter.

It is likely that Bezos buys Spurs. Okay then. For one who is clearly intelligent, your nativity is surprising. Bezos is an football fan is he, with long lost roots in Tottenham :)

Right, mate - I must have forgotten that Kroekne grew up with a poster of George Armstrong on his tattered bedroom wall, and Mohammed Bin Salman used to yelp for joy when Shola Ameobi bundled one in and the Toon erupted. ;)

Owners don't buy clubs because they have a connection with them. ENIC certainly did not buy us because they had any connection with us - as Daniel Levy himself said in 2003, there was 'no connection there [...] it was purely financial'.

If Bezos buys us (if), it's so he can plaster Amazon all over the stadium, call it the Amazon Arena and also just own an ego-stroking toy - much like his under-construction super-yacht, which, incidentally, blows Joe Lewis' example out of the water.

The over riding sentiment on here is that fans are powerless and the owners couldn’t give a fudge what they think and do whatever they want without a moments thought for the fans.

Really didn’t hear much of that down my end
I’m in row 26 and quite central
Heard individuals with random shout outs for sure
Probably in total I heard about 20 shouts

I would hope that the chairman of every club in the PL lives and breathes the club they are chairman of.... Especially the chairman who is first/second best paid of all of them.

We are indeed 8th in the league.... While our fans pay the highest prices but our wage to turnover ratio is lowest/second lowest in the league.

The customers and owners are indeed pulling in different directions. The 'customers' want to see their club successful in terms of winning trophies, the owners want to see their club successful in increasing their net worth by as much as possible. Unfortunately it seems that the two things don't necessarily have to be linked.

A sell off to a US investment consortium would make no difference to the likelihood of our club being successful IMO.... In fact it might even improve our chances as I would assume that those investors would try to put the very best structure in place, giving us a real, top class CEO.

Err....what? Sorry mate, that's a bit inexplicable.

Supporters of Levy and ENIC often fall back on the 'we're a business' justification for their refusal to invest in the club they own for 20 long, grinding years.

But then, the number one rule that gets trotted out in every single business is this - the customer is always right.

The customers, in this case the fans, are dissatisfied, and are making their demands increasingly clear - in a true 'business', if ENIC and Levy didn't respond to their customers, they would go out of business. That's how it works.

Surely, as a pure business, that's entirely healthy? After all, we're not a club, we're just a business, and so on. ;)

More seriously, that whole aspect of all pulling in one direction only works if you think of the club as a shared endeavour everyone has stakes in. That's only true if it is the opposite of a typical business, where customers owe the business no loyalty whatsoever. To my mind, you can't reconcile the two.

Our prices are almost the same as other clubs, we maybe get a little more from a nicer newer stadium. Its one of these winging myths that are trotted out by divisive fans, until you see we're 20p more or whatever.

The owners are made men. They want success as much as the rest of us. They just won't do it the dopped way but in a sustainable way. If that is incompatible with glory hunting fans who want to buy success, I'd look at your motives rather than theirs. Fair competition is a far more noble use of your campaigning ability. Where is the witch hunt for the oiled clubs ruining fair competition?

A distant owner who buys the club to make money would not bode well. As someone who knows about investing in companies, you should know that such an investment setup, is itself, highly risky. With the aim of the game making money out of the club. How is that compatible with your desires? Swap an ownership regime who reinvest all profits (bar a highish salary for Levy) for a investment consortium who's clear and stated aim is to make money? Yes Enic were that vehicle once upon a time, but times change, and now we have older owners who's families support this great club. Take that away and replace it with a cold investment fund. No thank you.

20p more? A 'little more'?

https://www.statista.com/statistics...ranked-by-most-expensive-season-ticket-price/

The Spurs season ticket is the second most expensive in the league. The priciest season ticket was apparently 1900 quid last season, 50% higher than 3rd place, and multiples of the most expensive tickets of other clubs. Even the cheapest season ticket was more than double that of the cheapest season ticket overall (800 quid for Spurs versus roughly 320 quid for Spam).

I get you have a bee in your bonnet about 'divisive fans' attacking Levy and ENIC for being summarily useless, but come on, mate - some things are so blatantly untrue it's hard to know where to begin. ;) @Finney Is Back is typically spot on, imo.

You've just disproved your point ;)

We are not the most expensive, therefore. And what gooners get for their money is arguably less too. Anyway look, if you wish to be negative and undermining..you do your thing. there is something to be said for keeping some pressure on Enic. But when that pressure affects the club negatively as it has recently, then at least know you are doing damage and your actions count; all be it from wherever you are posting from now.

It's always been his arsehole.
