Next Manager?

I'm totally fine with Conte coming in.
1. I think it's too soon for Poch
2. I'd like Conte to ruff things up a bit
3. If it doesn't work out, we can't blame the managers. It would be the definitive proof for me that it's the players, curses or other things that prevent us from winning things, because with Conte, Mourinho and Posh, we'd have had 3 of the most successful/highly regarded managers. If you don't win then, there's other problems than the manager.

Something still feels a little … off … on this. Why does Paratici need to wait till next week to make a decision? Are we still holding out for Poch or am I reaching?

I guess he could be waiting to see what happens with Conte, but surely his fate isn’t tied to that.

With a good manager we came 2nd in the league and 2nd in Europe, playing some of the best football we've ever witnessed. You don't have to go anti-football to punch above your weight.

I posted this on a previous page:

----------------------------Lloris

-----------Dier-----------Alder---------Davies

Bergwijn-----------------------------------------Regullion
-------------Alli--------Hojberg------Sissoko

-----------------Son------------Lukaku

I think it's mainly losing the passers (Ndombele, Lo Celso, Winks) and the high-line defenders (Sanchez) from the setup. I think that team could comfortably grind its way to 4th under Conte.

Wait a minute if it was that easy to achieve our success surely we and teams outside the top four would be doing it on the regular. Poch was an anomaly for what he created rather than the norm.

I just think with the players we have in the team we will not be open to playing this glorious football. Further to this, you have got Dier - Alder - Davies ... that just tells me that we will just have to disagree about footballing matters on a handshake.

We shouldnt blame the managers in the slightest ... a team with the majority of players is glaringly obvious how short this team is in terms of ability. It would take more than Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola and Pochettino combined to get anything out of this lot.

ZZ is the key imo, is he going to want to go to psg.
Says he doesn't want a rest, but there is only psg and utd who might be looking for a manager soon.

That's a bit of a contradictory post. On the one hand you say that "if he really wanted to move back to Spurs, all he had to do was resign" and immediately follow it with "What other club would ever appoint him in the future, if he resigns from a top job six months after coming in?"

So there's your answer: he may want to come, but realizes that what he would have to do to come here might negatively impact him professionally. So although it's not slavery, there are other things besides that that would force certain decisions.

I wouldn't advise him to do so but if he were as desperate to come back as some people obviously thought he was, he had the option of resigning. So, either he was mildly interested but he didn't want to risk his entire reputation by quitting six months after coming in or he didn't want to come back at all. But I find the idea that he's being held captive by PSG a little difficult to believe.

Considering he's a self-proclaimed Marseille fan, I'm not sure that's the best move for him, unless he doesn't want to set foot in his own city ever again...

Conte has a load of end of season stuff to do with Inter. I am assuming that it will be finalised early next week once he has done that.

Is probably the closest we get to a Conte look?
If we line up like that that would mean we sold Kane and only bought Lukaku, which would mean that there should be at least 125m unaccounted for!
It’s a style vs substance for me, Mourinhoball became a problem when the results didn’t accompany the performance and it wasn’t so much that it was counter attacking it was because we couldn’t hold a lead through a combination of position defenders and having no pattern of play to keep possession. Conte will seek to address these issues, whilst bringing a winning gravitas some of the other less experienced candidates can’t.

I think any other managerless club would choose Conte over Poch at this point in time. I still love the guy but we can’t let sentiment override what would be a significant coup for the club.

We've had plenty of managerial coups before, Ramos and Mourinho spring to mind. Unfortunately they haven't turned out well. As I said in a previous post appointing a big name coach alone will not bring success, especially one with the explosive temperament of Conte. We need someone who can work within the limits imposed Levy.

Sadly, I don't see Conte, based on his recent history, working out. Levy looks looks like he hasn't learnt from previous mistakes so I am not getting excited, he always wants the biggest names.

Shame really I was really intrigued by the ex Lille boss Galtier and Ten Haag.
