European Super League - Dead on arrival

It's a dirty business for sure. But the competition still remains - anyone can get promoted or relegated; it's not a closed shop.
The new super lge is a closed shop based on money alone, not sporting performance.

I agree it’s technically different in that respect. Realistically though, sporting performance is dependent on how dirty your business is.

Don't like it one bit but rather be in than out. They aren't abandoning their domestic leagues. They're aiming to replace the CL.

So one competition focused on generating as much money as possible replaces another. I'm against it because its no longer a meritocracy but its actually not that seismic a shift.

Be interesting to see if the PL stick with the threat to throw these clubs out. Can't see it personally. It'd be damaging for everyone involved and that sort of self destruction tends to find a solution with the amount of money involved.
It will have all the teams in it that actually can win the CL... plus teams like us and Arsenal who have an infrastructure to do so
They will add more teams soon to end up with a 40 week season mid week across Europe
20 teams I reckon

Nice to actually be invited isn’t it.

I bet some Everton people are a bit tinkled off.

Hate it or not, it shows how far we have come.

The backlash will be too heavy for this to ever see the light of day. We’ll have a new board before next season.

I reckon it won't be long before Rick Parry pipes up again with those Premier League and EFL reforms that were floated a little while ago. Today is the single biggest day for football for as long as I can remember.

Even if this doesn't happen... they're gonna get changes made that will still make football fudging brick and close it off, either that or all the leagues and governing bodies cut ties with these clubs, which they can't really afford to do.

Absolutely fudged.

If all the best players are playing in this and they're all banned from international football, does that mean Ireland might qualify for a world cup?

It's amazing that we're in at the ground level.
I don't like the concept at all, but am pleasantly surprised that we have got ourselves considered actually in amongst the elite
