European Super League - Dead on arrival

It will matter, as soon as someone tries to challenge it in court.

It could be seen as restriction of trade.

They don't need to go to court. They just need the pl and fa to agree to it.

The only problem the fa and prem had with the original proposal was that it was a closed shop. The new proposal aren't a closed shop. So it will just be negotiating on the finer points. It is a replacement for the champions league, clubs are not going to leave the pl. They wouldn't want to, it gives them an advantage over the european clubs.

The last proposal was a wholesale takeover and remodelling of elite football with a complete disconnect from the games roots.

You will remember the shorter games and multiple breaks and lord knows what else.

This proposal is a stalking horse coming as it does from the same sources with the same aspirations.

They will only ever go one way imo
I dunno, as long as there is good competition between the esl and uefa esl so that total viewership grows, we might see sponsorships take on a larger role in financing football. The issue with the epl I feel is, that supporters are paying too much. That's an issue when there's a local fanbase but not so much if the business is based on a global audience
