Coronavirus

She's right in what she's said though.

Should alarm people that the head of OFSTED was rejected for the role on basis of lack of experience among other things and given the role anyway. As usual, we all suffer because Tories hand things out to their chums instead of having the best people for the role. Indefensible unless you believe having brick people to run things is a method to success.

One of the last people I'd want running something as important as education is a teacher. That's coming from someone who knows a lot of them.

Kier Starmer calling for a national lockdown in the next 24 hours. Not sure that is warranted to be honest. Change the tiers, so there's a tier 5 - which should include close schools, stay at home and stop shops using the click and collect loophole.

We’re averaging 50,000+ cases a day (with a 47.6% increase in positive test numbers over the last seven days). Death rates were 24.5% up over the last seven days. Hospitals are struggling to cope, with admissions up 19.7% in the last week.

I’m interested to know under which circumstances you would feel another lockdown would be justified.

Hugely worrying if true, this guy been brilliant on all things covid related.

Increases in children being admitted to hospital in line with new strain. Not sure the date gives specific reasoning so more to unpick but scary thought:

One thing he's clearly not very good at is pointing out that a large % increase of a very small number is still a very small number.

Hysteria is clearly more infectious than COVID right now.

Edit: Should you ever wish to see an example of an echo chamber, your assessment of a nutritionist's expertise in epidemiology (especially one who has regularly been criticised by actual epidemiologists) is a great one.

Try to pace yourself @monkeybarry both mentally and physically. There might be a few ups and downs on her way to recovery and she will probably need your support when she is better and home.
Thanks mate. I am.
She's had low oxygen levels two days out of five since confirmed positive now, so it's probably covid taking hold.
Think hospital are going to send her home with oxygen and community care. So that's positive.
We'll see how the next few weeks go.

Is she five days with symptoms? Being sent home is definitely a positive sign.
