Coronavirus

Off topic but where do you draw the line if the Jacinda comment is too much for you?

I don't like most of what Scara says, he's a prick, but I am not sure his comments this time warrant any outrage.

I wouldn't say it's too much for me personally. I'm just not sure the person who runs this board should be making such blatantly misogynistic comments. The bar is already low on this forum, which I'm guessing is viewed and used by members of the female sex.

So possibly another full year in Tier 4 until I get it, really
What happened to get as many of the old, vulnerable and key workers done by easter then a big easing of restrictions

I doubt that it would be a year of tier 4. The Oxford vaccine should be approved before the end of the month. That will be a lot easier to roll out but it is still a huge task vaccinating everyone that we need to and we do not know if it stops people catching it or how long it lasts.

Here's a question then, is this kind of chat fine when it's just the lads? Is the issue that this is a public space? And I agree it is objectification and crass. But for me it is no different to the kind of stuff we all say amongst friends in closed spaces

I'd say the comment was crude, and arrogant, but I don't think it was misogynistic. I certainly don't feel offended or concerned about it. If anything it would be better treated like a young child who swears for effect - ignore it.
I'm a regular (female) visitor to this forum and I'm acutely aware that it's a place used in the main by male posters. Some things make me baulk a little bit but that's just because I'm reading something in print. Most of what gets posted on here is no worse, and usually nowhere near as bad, as you'd hear down the pub. But then I'm not easily offended.

Anyway, the point I wanted to make was I think you're being very unfair saying the bar is low on this forum. I'd actually say it's the opposite. There's usually a good debate on most topics, whether football or random. Sometimes it gets heated, sometimes a line is overstepped, but rarely (as far as I can tell) is anything deliberately offensive uttered and it's usually all in good faith. Regularly informative, often very funny.
There's actually a good group of posters on here.
If you want to see a low bar, dip in TFC from time to time.

Anyway, back to Tier 4.

On corona, this government does actually listen to scientific experts. Another way of looking at that is that they are at the mercy of lobbyists for the tertiary education sector, who are grimly determined to hang on to tuition fees and rent payments.

Great perspective, thanks, and I agree. BTW if you are interested in being a part of our zoom pod look for the topic thread in random and let us know. We are still in pre/season training!

Public space has to have a higher bar than private chat IMO. Same with work, the chat in the office has to adhere to a different set of rules to that which happens outside the office or in the pub.
