Okay.

As you understand it, has he already signed for Spurs?

Or is it just that he's decided to sign for Spurs?

If the latter, it's still just possible that Liverpool could come in with a last minute offer that beats ours.

He has decided to sign

Liverpool will not come with another offer, their contract offer is miles off ours

Begs the question - what did Liverpool offer him?

Traditionally Liverpool blow us away on wages - and I dont imagine we have given him a deal as one of our top earners.

At Readng I would guess he was on Peanuts. Relative to that Hoffenheim could have significantly upped his wages without actually putting him on good money. Swansea could afford to loan him - so Im guessing he wasnt on "big" money at all.

We could conceivably double his salary and still have him on 50k a week or something like that - which is not the sort of money Liverpool would normally sniff at paying imo.

Joe Cole - we reportedly offered 60k, Liverpool put him on 90k!

Rodgers clearly rates Sigurdson really highly - and yet they wont beat our offer for him?

Perhaps the new management set up is trying to be really strict now?

Was rumoured when Martinez was in talks that they wanted him to report to 3 different directors! One a scout, one on the money and one on strategy iirc...

Or may be, just may be - they don't rate him as highly as we do to offer him more - doesn't mean it would be above their wage ceiling

Hate to say it, but that table shows how well the scum have done to get into the top 4 so consistently.

While they have done well they have also been very fortunate in that they sold to clubs that think money grows on trees.

Anelka to Madrid was huge money at the time, and how much have they had out of City the last few seasons (at least twice what they would have got from any normal club IMO)

Well they probably don't have as much money after splurging 100m last season...

Im not saying our offer is astronomical (honestly I dont believe we can compete with them in a wage footrace).

What Im saying is that considering our wage offer will be, shall we say, "fair" - and considering Rodgers clear admiration for the player it is very strange that Liverpool have let us have this one.

Surely this is about wages more than the fee from the mighty Hoffenheim

Yeah, but if you spent more on fees in the past, you'll have less money in general.

Plus they don't seem to be getting rid of anyone anytime soon, unless anyone's heard any differently?

I have had a quick search through and did not see anything on this so decided to post it.

The table below represents the clubs net spend per season from Season 2003/04 to date. This Season saw the begining of very wealthy club ownership with Roman Abramovich's purchase of Chelsea .
Purchases = Money spent on Players, Sold = Money received from Players sold.
Net = Purchased minus Sold , This gives an indication of new investment on players .

The per season column gives an average of the money spend per season since 1992.

Wow that's impressive from Gooner scum.

or maybe our new manager was adamant Sigurddson would be perfect for his preferred system?

The one we don't even have at the moment while the name everyone has assumed is signing branded everything as 'lies' in the only interview to date which featured actual quotes from the human being himself?

How does he tell Levy which players to buy? Via sms?

d-boy - Sgrsn - 2cool2handle mst av. plz, avb xxo

Liverpool came in with another offer during that time

only passing this off in good faith

you can hate all you want

I will hate, you are no different to any other wannabe ITK attention seeker.

Good faith, take it as you will, only passing on info blah blah blah, you say all the right things, could be a career in this for you yet.

Maybe he is - I think he could be a real dynamo in a midfield 3 - but that would indicate we out bid Liverpool - which would infer we made a really big offer. Not sure I believe that myself.

It seems that they just backed off IMO.
