Coronavirus

Has any UK government body or scientist yet estimated the probable death figures for the next 5 years if we lock down for 2 months and open up for 2 months on a rolling basis and start rolling out a vaccine in March and it takes 6 months to get it fully rolled out?
VERSUS
Allowing people to do what they want i.e. crack on as normal if you want, or shield if you want?

Not easy is it? How can you lot argue so fervently that one approach is better than the other?!

E.g. in each scenario:

Genuine Coronavirus deaths (i.e. died from Coronavirus rather than died whilst having the virus, even if asymptomatic)

MINUS

People that would have died anyway

PLUS

Deaths from reduced screening of serious illnesses like cancer i.e. picking up Stage 3 or Metastatic vs Stage 1 or 2.

PLUS

Suicides from depression / job losses etc.

And all the other complexities in terms of deaths... let alone factoring in the economy etc.

How can you lot know for sure if nobody has calculated all this?

Because frankly put they can't even tell the public how many people have died from Covid let alone forecast.

End of the day regardless of if you want lockdown or you don't the UK has handled this shockingly bad, that's where I'm ending it.

We go into Lockdown Thursday can't change it, I gain more from lockdown than not based on circumstance and despite the worry for wider society it don't really matter government are gonna do what they want to do and its likely to end up horrendously based on the past 10 months, so people can support that if they like, good luck with it.

Good luck and health to you all, even the convicts ;)

There's no way of knowing, the certainty is that people will die that maybe didn't have to.
This is a no win situation.
Kobayashi Maru.

So my mum was told today that the pain in her shoulder that she couldn't a gp apt for or entry to A&E with for over 6 months is cancer in the lymph nodes.
But hey, covid you know.

My wife got a smear test reminder, don't put it off because of covid, call this dedicated number.
Called the number, answering machine, if you have covid symptoms call this number immediately, if not hang on and we will answer your call.
Then it hangs up.

Marvellous.
