Counter attacking football relies on a strong defence. Our weakest 5 positions are RB, CH, CH, LB & DM. If Mourinho’s tactic is to play counter attack football then we need 5 new signings.... and that’s before you look how our counter attacking is.
But what else should he play?
We can’t okay a pressing game as we don’t have players fit enough anymore

It wasn't pretty though, was it. Despite the disallowed goals, it's hard to argue with the result.

On general play I’d argue with the result but for the way we defended and the lack of guts we showed on their goals, you’re absolutely right. We got what we deserved and that’s very hard to swallow. We lost to a team who, player for player, aren’t as good as us and who didn’t have the benefit of a crowd to cheer them on. Heartbreaking and sickening to be honest.

Winks has the positional awareness of a nat! He's shown his "skills" in that departement only just recently vs united, and plenty of times before that. He simply isn't good enough. He's average at most things, but certainly not the level we need in that position. Squad player at best.
Yet strangely united created very little for midfield and subbed their opposite numbers to winks and sissoko to get more creativity on the pitch... so clearly they were doing something right

I hear this a lot but I am yet to see a replay where the handball is obvious. I think that it is just Sky trying to create a talking point.
It was when he fell, not when he was down. And the player literally booted the ball at him

I thought he was perhaps our best player (him or Bergwijn). Admittedly very low bar (and yes I did see him hit a 50 yard backpass out for a corner)

cant see how you get that TBH
I’m not anti sissoko and there are games where he is perfect. Just not ones where we have the ball

The XG showed they created quite a bit more than us.
Yep and xg means very little as we have seen many times
Stats mean nothing other than goals vs and for
Hugo made 2 top saves vs united and their keeper made 1
Today neither keeper made a save of note yet there were 4 goals scored

I thought that he won us a lot of the ball and actually generally used it quite well (the pass back aside)
I’d have to look at his stats but I can think of a few really really poor passes
He definitely won some tackles and that was against a 3 man midfield too so it wasn’t easy

So what should he do with the squad he has inherited and had for 5 months?
Coach them? Set us up so Sissoko plays as a pure DM & not go past the centre circle? Get midfield players to show for the ball instead of us hoofing long from the back when pressed? Get some movement off the ball from the front 4?

But all the coaching In the world isn’t fixing the same issue a Poch had... basic errors from stupid players
That’s what hurts us time and time again
And I’ll guess it’s even harder to fix that mid season, or even mid, mid season

My equally big fear though is that the likes of Kane, Son and Alli won’t want to be here next season (or at least won’t be able to regain full enthusiasm / commitment / confidence).

I’d sell Dele now if someone came in with a half decent bid. He’s been Burnley level for a year at least, aside from the very odd flicker of something better.

I heard Darren Lewis on The Spurs Show podcast saying that Tottenham is the size of club that should be buying great players - like the Fernandes Yanited signed - not ‘good enough’ type players.

That was quite funny when he imagined the conversation when Levy told Mourinho, “I’ve signed you a Fernandes. Now, it’s not exactly the one you asked for, but this one was cheaper...”.

And Dier’s excellent block on (I think it was) Martial and Fernandes’ shot just an inch wide. Sorry mate but we barely deserved a point in that game
