you're not factoring managers and playing styles IMO. that and and underrating of talent that fit into particular systems. that can easily make a players more than he is

i will say though, under a ferguson or wenger we would do better in this league. but they are the top two in the league and you would be hard pressed to PROVE that anyone would have done better than redknapp overal
 
People keep mentioning the Tottenham 'mindset'. Presumably this is the same mindset that has seen the club record three top six finishes in a row for the first time in how many years? 30? 40?

You can't just switch a winning mindset on it takes time to instill into players and evolve within a club. We are getting there. We are certainly better than we were ten years ago.

I'm sorry but I really don't understand this thread, or others similar to it. We finshed fourth which was the objective from the off

We massively overachieved for a large part of the season with our 2nd-3rd place form then massively underachieved for another part. Neither should be used as a stick to beat the other with. If we had just chugged along nicely and finished exactly the same points and goal diff then we'd be partying like we did two years ago. Instead, some people are calling for Harry's head!

Realistically we should have finished 5th or 6th behind Chelsea and/or Liverpool - for fudges sake this is the first time we've finished above Chelsea in years - and I haven't seen one pundit who has had their post season predictions shown having us in the top 4

Or the riots, or Harry's heart surgery, or the court case or Muamba. When you think about it, it is a testament to the coaching staff that the players weren't more distracted. It's been one freak of a season.

Personally I think it shows more dignity to not do so, like the saying goes, no-one likes a poor loser.

Highest and lowest points?

What's been everyone's this season? Lowest I'd say it is tied between Defoe's miss and subsequent loss against Emirates Marketing Project, along with getting dingdonged by Chelsea at Wembley.

The City game, having come from 2-0 down, was just such a big chance to stamp our authority on the league, and even though I still think it would have been a two horse race come the end of the season, I think if we'd have won that we'd have got 3rd no problem.

The Chelsea game was just horrible. I didn't think it could get worse than the Pompey one, but it really was. I've rarely felt so low after a game, and thought that was it for the season.

Hard to pinpoint the highest points, because we didn't have any really spectacular wins, but rather a series of very good, solid results. I'd go for the Norwich game though. It was, in my opinion, one of our best performances of the season, on boxing day, and got me really buzzing for the rest of the season.

Off the pitch, the Muamba incident, while horrible at the time, really makes me look back with pride. Our support were just magnificent that night, and we've rightly got a lot of praise for it since.

didnt we recover from this collapse you speak of? i agree though, it WAS a collapse but it looked more like a collapse of form , confidence and direction than anything redknapp did
 
City loss obviously - one of the most bitter moments for me as a Spurs supporter.

We fought back, and deservedly had a draw, then missed the opportunity of a lifetime to snatch a win which would mean we were still in the title race. Instead Defoe misses, and we concede a injury time penalty to a player that should have been sent off for deliberately trying to stamp on Parker's head.

You couldn't make it up.

The highlight for me was how we recovered after our shocking start to the season and went on a great run, playing some excellent football in the process. It was a proud period to be a Spurs supporter.
 
Would have liked to see QPR go down but i will not shed tears over Bolton, i have always hated going up there.
 
Undoubtedly the loss to the scum, that's the angriest I've been for a long time. That loss was what started the dip in form, had we come out of that match with at least a point and at least a 10 point gap I'm confident we would have comfortably got third, but losing that game and eroding the gap (especially in light of the two difficult games that followed) was easily the worst feeling this year. The high point would either be the 4 - 0 battering of Liverpool or the 5 - 0 battering of Saudi Sportswashing Machine, two fantastic performances.
