OMT: Mighty Spurs vs Emirates Marketing Project

It's so predictable that we would let in that early goal and fail to take our chances. Had we been clinical, we could've won this FFS.

For me it's these three things we need to avoid:
- Early goal from a mistake.
- Big, big chances missed.
- Subs brought on too late.

We look so much better with Winks, Alli and Eriksen on too - that trio will make us a better team obviously. Dembele doesn’t look his old self, and Moura could do with a rest too.

I think this should be the first eleven now (sorey Sissoko):

Lloris
Trippier - Sanchez - Toby - Davies
Dier - Winks
Lamela - Eriksen - Dele
Kane

Fresh players against tiring ones are always going to look better. Winks really did well, turned the game in our favour. Plain and simple, we didn't take our chances.

Sissoko's best game for us I think but its just a footnote to another disappointing night. The game was really a microcosm of our season. You have to take your chances when they come, and we don't. I know some are saying it could have been worse but frankly, fudge being a valiant loser.

When Winks came on he gave us what we were missing all game, some forward progression. Far too often we play it back to Lloris for the sake of keeping possession. That possession means nothing.

Another disappointment is that our full backs were very poor again and have been for a long time. And unfortunately, they seem to be our out ball. That tactic does not work when every man and his dog knows it is the way we play.

Bit harsh. You do have a point, City can play better but thought we did well. Trippier is a poor defender. I’d rather Aurier. Lamela, id have banked on him scoring every time.

IMO, when you compare what each keeper had to do, they should have won the game easily, and they didn't even have to play that well. Lamela missed a fantastic chance, Kane had a heavy touch in the first half. I can't really remember us going close (apart from Lamela and Kane's shot from distance), but on chances, they should really have been a couple of goals up by the time the Lamela chance came. It was a similar story against Liverpool, they didn't play that well but they had loads of chances. Teams don't have to play well to get chances against us.

I just get so annoyed in these games, we can always rely on someone in defence to play like an utter qunt, tonight it was Trippier's turn. And yet again, we are chasing from the early minutes. Just so annoyed with him, just head that ball out of play. Set your mind, before the game, take no risks in defence early on. Clear the ball, simple. 6 minutes in, unforgivable.

Disappointed to not get at least a deserved point tonight. But I'll echo all the positives mentioned previously. Winks looks hungry, snappy. Sanchez has that Ledley aspect to his game.

And forgive Lamela. He had to take that shot first time and the replays showed the ball bobbling as it rolled toward him.

Squad numbers beginning to thicken as we head for the grind of December. Vertonghen was definitely missed tonight. Second half rise in energy was good to see, too. Encouraging sight of Alli, Ericksen and Lamela looking lively.
Lots of time to get things rolling the way we want.

There's also the comforting sound of Liverpool supporters whining about us not gifting them first place.

To try and be positive after my negative posts, I will say Sissoko did well, Dele looked decent, Winks might be the answer in midfield.

Fullbacks and centre midfield (the 2 infront of the back 4) is where we are struggling this season.

We were better than anyone will give us credit for IMO

Our key now is to beat all the teams below and regroup for the next big game

I’ll sleep ok tonight!
Thought we were better than I was expecting!
So I’m quietly pleased we made a game of it.

Would love some investment on the squad, but hey can’t have everything!

Just want to put it out there that sissoko will not be that effective against defensive sides... but he was out MOTM tonight

Exactly. City concede space in behind because of their full high press. Full credit to Sissy tonight, he took full advantage but still couldn’t find the killer pass.

Most teams we play sit back against us and leave no space. In those type of games, Sissy is worse than useless and regressses to mean.
