OMT - Tottenham FC vs Racist Scum

We beat Atletico 5-1 in the Cup Winner's Cup.

Now I'm not sure. Was the Cup Winner's Cup the old money Champs League?

No, European Cup is Champions League, European Cup Winner Cup has ceased to exist, UEFA Cup is the Europa League.

CWC and UEFA probably traded places a few times but they were always secondary to the European Cup.

It was called the champions Cup before, and it started back in 1956, real Madrid won it. We've never won that one.

What I love about this result is it shows how we can grind out a result. Post Juve it’s all about results. Previously we’d put in a great performance. Now it’s about the results. Fuk the 80 minutes of control etc it’s the key moments and how you take or defend them.

The team now looks more ruthless. More able to get results. Performance wise we could have been better. Passing not as slick, setup first half left us narrow, defending wasn’t perfect, but despite that we can get results.

The team is maturing and starting to become a results machine. If Poch can keep that emphasis we’ll win trophies.

I think the crucial weekend was round 24. We were on 45 points after drawing with Southampton, Liverpool still had to play a hopeless Swansea. A Liverpool win would have opened a five point gap from the top four, which could have been demoralising. Instead they lost and we've only dropped points at Anfield in the seven games since then, with wins over United, Arsenal and Chelsea. Possibly our toughest run of games turned out to be our best.

That's often been the way with us, though, hasn't it. We'd trounce the champions elect or something, and then we'd go out and drop points at home to relegation fodder. We'd always be rubbish after a lay-off as well. All that's changing under Pochettino. We haven't got that soft underbelly any more (or at least, the Tylers and Smiths of this world can't rely on it). Other things being equal, stuff like that boils down to the players' attitude. Pochettino fosters the right sort, and long may it continue.

Look, I told you we have a tendency to win matches I don't get to see due to work! So clearly, I just need to work and not watch any of our matches. So fudging (double) sad. :(
