ENIC

I've been a passenger in something like that, in media, it just led to an asset strip, a carve up, and multiple smaller sales.

No fun, certainly not an accelerator.

So my basic understanding is the spac has gotten money off investors to buy us. They will then list us on the stock exchange and use the money they raise from selling shares to pay back the investors at a profit. If it makes a profit.

Doesn't sound dodgy at all. Or at least not something fans would want.

Yep going down a similar route the Man U owners went.

We currently pay back 19m a year in interest on debts, not sure how much we would have to pay back under this ownership model. Guessing they view the stadium as a cash cow to make them money where as we viewed it as a cash cow to help us sign players.

Honestly if we were sold to this type of investment group I would say we would have been better off staying at the old white Hart Lane.

Yet the tw-itterati are out in full force with their ire because Levy rejected a takeover bid/is holding out for more.
As I said, be careful what you wish for.
The irony of their ire is Levy may of got a bid at the price he wants, but doesn't cash out because he won't leave the club (and by default,us) in the hands of these type of deal makers. ie protecting their interests.

Tbh he could just list us on the stock exchange himself if he thought he'd get more. Again i don't understand it. They just come across as chancers wanting to make a quick buck. If it fails they walk away and do it again. Which from their point i get, just not enics or the investors. For a tech company or something maybe. But levy has been in charge 20 years, this isn't a unicorn. This is years of development and levy will know the value.

Do we know if this part buy out was the deal Levy was working on that we hoped would lead to a significant transfer budget in the summer? Sounds like probably not based on the claims they would treat us like the glazers.

Perhaps @Jordinho knows more?

CONTE: ‘TOTTENHAM WEAKENED SQUAD, I REALISE NOW THIS IS THE CLUB’S VISION

Antonio Conte vents his frustration with Tottenham Hotspur for ‘weakening the squad’ in the January transfer window and not bringing in experienced players. ‘I have realised now this is the vision of the club.’

The former Inter coach spoke to Sky Sport Italia and the full interview will be aired on Thursday evening.

They did release a snippet of the conversation, in which Conte seemed to be thoroughly unhappy with the transfer activity in January, when Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur were signed from Juventus for a total €70m.

He was asked if there were similarities between this Tottenham side and Conte’s first season at Inter.

“It’s always difficult to make comparisons, but if I had to find something similar, it would be the lack of confidence that is inevitable when you start work at a club that hasn’t won in a long time,” he said.

“I saw some situations from the outside that could be developed, but when you get into it, you realise that something…

“What happened in January was not easy. We lost four players in January. Four important players for Tottenham, and we brought in only two.

“So even just in terms of numbers, rather than reinforce the squad, we on paper weakened it. Bentancur and Kulusevski are ideal prospects for Tottenham, because Tottenham are seeking young players they can develop and grow, not players who are ready. That is the issue.”

Conte repeatedly asked Inter, and before that Juventus, to bring in players who were ready to win and had experience of victory.

Can the Italian coach therefore bridge the gap between Spurs and the other Premier League teams without players who are fully-formed?

“That is the issue,” he replied. “This is the vision and the philosophy of the club. It is inevitable that if you want to grow quicker and if you want to be competitive more rapidly, you need players with a lot of experience, because they also raise the experience level of the overall team.

“But I repeat, I have realised now that this is the vision of the club.”

Well, props to him for realising something an increasing number of us knew for ages.

Dan Levy and Joe Lewis are absolute curses on this club, and nothing will change until they are tossed out. Nothing.

Still, good to see it takes about three months for a coach to figure this out, on average. :p

Nowhere to hide now for Danny boy.

But for a manager of his stature to talk like this after 16 weeks shows a lot about him
And it’s not all good things

If they were 4 important players then why didn't he use them? Why didn't he make it clear that he wanted to keep them?
A lot of his comments recently are poor and all about him. Instead of trying to build up the confidence of the team his comments are all negative and will do the opposite.

Don't most clubs these days prefer to buy younger players? Give them long contracts, if it doesn't work out sell and get some money back.

The ones that don't, seem (at least in england) to be ones that want quick fixes. Overspend, villa and everton come to mind.

I can understand it from a managers point of view. They are judged on results week to week.

I feel something might be being lost in translation here, that he knew it was the plan, but that it is a new experience for him.

He's answered the question asked, rather than made a complaint.

If only he had an old contact he trusted who already worked in the club who could have given him the lowdown on the squad and transfer strategy…
