"Tottenham are also looking to secure additional cover for Harry Kane but have not yet submitted a bid for AZ Alkmaar’s Vincent Janssen.

The striker visited Tottenham’s training ground two weeks ago after Pochettino watched him play a friendly for Holland against the Republic of Ireland and discussions were held about his future.

Janssen is currently on holiday and has also held talks with the German club Wolfsburg, though Spurs remain his preferred choice."

According to AD, AZ rejected Tottenham’s first bid two weeks ago, but the Premier League side are expected to return with an improved offer to fend off interest from Wolfsburg. AZ are resigned to losing their top scorer this summer.

The 21-year-old is said to prefer a move to Tottenham over Wolfsburg, due to the London clubs participation in the Champions League next season and is not afraid of competing with English striker Harry Kane.

Janssen was the Eredivisie top scorer last season with 27 goals in 34 league games.
