MOTD were banging on about Aurier and how hes defensively better than Trippier. Actually I think the opposite is true. Trippier is more steady at the back, and despite not being fast, is generally aware and alert. Yes Trippier was outpaced by Sane. But against Sane you need to double up, he is that good imo. Maybe Aurier would have had more speed to combat him.
What Aurier brings is more speed in attack. His crosses weren't good on Sunday - no ones were. Rose, Trippier, Aurier were wasteful. but Aurier got an assist and a goal, was always in the right place, and is on his toes. His final ball, and defensive awareness still needs work but he has zip and flare in attack. He's happy to give and go, run the line, and should be a more rounded player for us by next season.
