Its a film no one has to go and watch it.
Ill enjoy it from a nostalgic standpoint....
Better than most of the current superhero avalanche.
Last film I enjoyed was Fences.

Watch closely and these 'new' Star Wars films are nothing more than reboots off the old ones, i.e. Luke Sky Walker is now playing the role of Obi Wan. The plot lines are identical, i.e a new set of twins one a boy and one a girl.

The Force Awakens, certainly. Though it was more "homage" than copy or reboot.

This one? Yet to be seen.

Was that number 7? That was a blatant copy of 4 and 5. Loads of it was almost identical situations and setup... very lazy. 8 was decent enough... we're onto 9 now aren't we? Hard to remember...

If you are at all inclined Id recommend this on why The Force Awakes isnt exactly a rip off...

Otherwise this is officially number 8, but its easy to lose track!

Well I watched it this afternoon, slow burning 1st hour then bammmmmmmmmmmmm, the last 90 mins or so were epic

I loved it, far better than The Force Awakens for me

Thank you young padawan. I watched that yt vid. The guy admits loads of scenes are super similar and says he would have preferred a new story rather than such a similar story and says it is an average film.

He says the scenes are different because of their emotions etc... but that is not my point. I'm saying that the baddies building a huge death star to blow stuff up is needlessly repetitive... and then it gets blown up when the goodies attack the death star's one weak spot in the centre... did they not learn from Ep5? What a total rip off... loads of scenes are 90% similar... just silly and lazy but still an OK film... but still way too many scenes that are super similar

Thats fair enough.

As I said, I think his main distinction was that it was 'homage' rather than 'the same' due to the different emphasis of the superficially similar elements.

That said, of course, it is very similar in the broad strokes. I think that was largely a deliberate move, to appeal to the nostalgia of the older generation and get the younger into what Star Wars is (erasing the prequels and getting back to what works!).

Early reviews of The Last Jedi are very positive, and none suggest the "'new' Star Wars films are nothing more than reboots off the old ones" which was what I originally disagreed with. The Force Awakens, yeah i get it. Rogue One? No. Last Jedi? No...
