New TV

Johnny nice-tits
I adore my Samsung LED's; 46" in the lounge, 37" in the bedroom, 32" in the kitchen, 27" monitor in my office.

Not a single complaint about any of um - love the picture, love the menu, never a prob!

I'm not in the market for a new TV at the mo, so haven't seen the picture on them, but - aesthetically - the new 2012 LG LEDs look stunning! Whole range is here:

I like the look of this:

As I said, no idea about picture - but, visually, that's beautiful.

EDIT: Same TV, with Robert Whyte (who I've bought all my stuff from)...

At least check this one out:

"
The word that best sums up our time with the 46HX853 can only be ‘wow’. Sony may have left it late, but just when we were seriously starting to fear for the brand’s TV future, it’s stormed back with what might honestly be the best LCD TV we’ve ever seen."
10/10 (trusted reviews)

"
There really isn't any overstating the potential importance of the KDL-46HX853 to Sony right now. For in one single leap its stunning picture performance takes the struggling Japanese giant from near-zero to all-conquering hero - an achievement made all the more remarkable when you consider that this outstanding TV is being delivered at a more aggressive price than the usually ultra-competitive Korean brands are offering on their range equivalents.
To sum all this up, with the KDL-46HX853 Sony isn't just back, it's back with a vengeance." 5/5 (tech radar)

Marky, if you go high street then go with John Lewis, they'll price match any other major highstreet retailer and they have the best guarentee.

As an extra question (sorry if hijacking Marky!)...

With the new TVs now that have an internet feature on them, is it just a screen with say Sony Apps, or Samsung Apps etc that you have to pay for OR can you actually google and use streaming sites straight from your TV without the need to HDMI from a laptop?

This make sense?

You're going to want a TV that has an inbuilt browser that supports HTML 5 or Flash. I don't think that any do yet? You might have to do some research. There are a few with built in browser but not the video capability I don't think.

What Sheikh said.

I think I may have been tempted by the LG if I was in the market right now. I would suggest going into a massive currys and compare the ones you like the look of. Remember to set all of the screens on factory default picture settings for any demos as salesman will tweak the ones they want to sell to look better than the lower commission screens.

Spoken like a true 'pro'

John Lewis often have slightly different model numbers on electrical goods (same TV, different number) so that there's nothing to price match to.

Get to know your John Lewis staff, they will sort you out

I've even price matched against internet sites before

One of (if not) the best companies on the high street IMO

Really? They've matched everything I have gone in there for. I've managed a TV and docking station so far.

Edit: Also, I was very impressed to find that it immediately goes store wide as well, not just for me.

It really depends on what you're after. Some product codes just don't exist outside of JL yet the exact same spec TV does.

Usually though, they are excellent - they just have some things they clearly don't want to price match on.
