Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

I note my post about Pochettino, and the probability of him being a target for Real Madrid, posted in the thread for posts about Pochettino was moved to the Manager Sack watch.

May I point out that Zinedane Zidane was not sacked but resigned. And Pochettino has not been sacked and is not likely to be.

Therefore I have to conclude that my post was moved because a) it was about a manager and b) it involved speculation about a manager's position.

in which case presumably you will be stripping out all other similar posts - starting with those that are immediately above this (unless they have gone now) which should take a while but have the benefit of leaving a much leaner thread.

Or -- heavens forbid - we could reinstate the moved posts and carry on our discussion about Pochettino and whether he is likely to move to Real in the Pochettino thread. I know it is pushing the boundaries a bit, but I'm all for radical innovation.

[And just in case this sounds a bit bad-tempered - I am very thankful for all the hard work the mods do - (unless it involves moving my posts)]

It was moved to keep talk about Zidane's replacement together and to avoid having duplicate conversations in two threads.

It won't be to appease the fans. It will be to silence the media and reassure the players/potential targets.

It would not silence the media, if they want to stir and speculate, they will do so.
Players and potential targets can be assured - if necessary - by private statements.
I kind of like the way we mostly tend to keep quiet about media speculation and let it run its course.

Apparently it took Perez by surprise when Zidane told him, so it's fine work by him to already have his Poch-topped shortlist drawn up and shared with Eurosport.

I must say I'm absolutely delighted that this thread isn't full of people fearing that Poch is off because of the Zidane stuff. Seems like this place is learning how to be positive and is realising what we have in this man. Twitter and Reddit Spurs fans still obviously think there's a good chance he goes - as if they have learned absolutely nothing about the man in the last 4 years - but I'm glad there's no big scare that he's off here.

Said it before, Ill say it again - no Spurs tinted glasses - Madrid would be a bad move for him.

He is a coach that needs time. They are a club that doesnt give it.

Also, right now, he is the king, he has autonomy, he has clout. At Madrid he wont even have a say in players being bought/sold. And of course he would have the president pushing for certain players to start etc.

Its just not a fit, IMO.

"Onslaught" is suitably hyperbolic. I feel we should barricade Poch's office in case they try and kidnap him? I can donate an office chair to the ramparts.

No big scare but the seed of doubt has been sown for me. Madrid will go full on to snare him if that’s their top target.

Would be nice if club/Poch kick it into row Z before rags bang on all summer.

I was on SC rather than here at the time, but I remember a general sense of comfort that Bale would stay, despite all the tabloid nonsense about Real Madrid, because some monstrous fabulators with little ITK badges on their avatars swore blind that Gareth wouldn't go anywhere, and that was why he had named his daughter Wilhelmina Henrietta Lavender or whatever it was. And I felt very superior to Twitter and Reddit folk, because I was better informed.

That's because I moved them all over here

No problem.
And thanks for explaining.
Might be worth putting a note in Poch thread - if you haven't already - until everyone gets the idea.

Ha...still, even in this thread there's a lot more confidence in Poch staying than I expected - which is good.

He's going nowhere. Everything we know of the man suggests he wouldn't sign a new contract only to walk a week later. Regardless of whether it's tempting, regardless of whether or not it's the right time in his career or not to try it. He just wouldn't do it. He's too principled and that's what makes him special.

Wenger at Real to oversee a rebuild would be interesting.
