Low balling for Grealish? You mean when a price had been agreed, new owners came in and jacked the price to beyond what we thought was reasonable? Fair play they got a £100 million for him but City look mugs for paying it.Called this ages ago. So boringly obvious what was going to happen, Arѕe just sat back, letting Spurs do the legwork and then sniped when they knew the offer they had to match or better. They've known all along that they were holding the trump card—the player wanted them. We ask for it over and over again and we never learn. Quite why Levy has this rep as the master negotiator playing 4D chess is beyond me. His style works for selling but is so counterproductive when we need to buy quality. He often seems to think he holds better cards than he does, as well, just like when he was lowballing Villa for Grealish.
He thought he had them over a barrel. Then the barrel was emptied on his head.Low balling for Grealish? The over reaction on all sides here is laughable. Yes we got shafted by Eze but not because of anything we could have done. Eze was hanging out until deadline day hoping Arsenal would move for him. It happened early, that is all.

You know he is going to score against us…I hope he gets injured for a season, nothing career threatening just something that keeps him out for the year.![]()
As long as its in a 5-1 win to us i wouldn’t care. You know he is going to score against us…

Bergval was a long way from ready at the start of last season. He is still quite a long way from being ready now. I refuse to believe that had we signed Gallagher then we wouldn’t have signed Bergval, IMO Bergval was always one for the future that we ended up using early due to having an undercooked squad. They both do/would have competed with Sarr for our #8 spot.
We could’ve had him for £20m but mucked around making offers like £8m and Josh Onamah for weeks and weeks. This for Poch’s top target to replace Eriksen. Ridiculous stuff from a man who thought he had all the cards.Low balling for Grealish? N ail on the head, that is actually what happened. Deal was agreed until the new owner came in and upped the price.Low balling for Grealish? Deal was agreed several weeks after we started making insulting bids…. We eventually bid their asking price just as noises were coming out that Villa had found new investment and ownership.N ail on the head, that is actually what happened. We even eventually ended up bidding over £30m for Grealish once the owners were in place. Quite why a player is worth £30m to us at the end of the window but not worth £20m at the start of the window 8’pl never know…. But I suppose Daniel has to ‘win’ the negotiation!
Further to this (and quite interesting IMO) was that Maddison was our second choice for this role that summer.Deal was agreed several weeks after we started making insulting bids…. We eventually bid their asking price just as noises were coming out that Villa had found new investment and ownership.

Yep…. Once we brick ourselves knowing Villa were about to come into lots of money. No reason why that couldn’t happen weeks and weeks before (like the way Leicester quickly wrapped up Maddison).Wrap it up anyway you want too, the deal was agreed, hands shook new owners came in pulled the deal and put the price up.

We blew that deal badly and really let Poch down. It was an easy deal to do at not a massive amount of money but Daniel has to ‘win the negotiation’ of course.
