Eberechi Eze

So I guess we're back to something like the list I came up with when Maddison first got injured....

Xavi Simons is 100% available. He wants Chelsea (no doubt because they are offering him a big wage). Time for us to act like a big boy if we want to be considered one of the big boys I think!

I'd be happy with any of the below to be honest. Asensio should be a reasonably easy deal to do and he proved at Villa he has what it takes to play PL football.
I'd really like to see De Ketelaere play for us. Classy player who I'm sure Frank would love to work with.

I don't rate Chelsea's window, they just seem to swap around players of similar ability levels. I don't think they have bought much to make the first team better and they need that to challenge for the title.

Incredibly skillful player, but not much pace. Brave though. Currently plays from the right in the half spaces. If the plan is for him to be a 10 then I’m not sure he’d add much to us for a year or two.
It think it would be in CM
In the role we’re tying to fit Bergvall in centrally
It’s why the pace thing wouldn’t bother me

He doesn’t look anything other than a right winger to me at the moment. I think he could end up playing centrally as a 10 type player but he’s not yet good or strong enough to do that even in France.

We were so mental not to go all out and get Enzo Millot. Such a massive miss that.

Oh well.

The more shocking thing is that the season has started and we still haven't been able to bring in a ten when a) we knew we needed bolstering there anyway and b) Madison's injury happened, what 2/3 weeks ago?

Where is Paratici???
and we know Kulu is out until November at the earliest and that's not taking into account how rusty and off the pace he is for weeks after a big injury

We seemingly done just that with Conor Gallagher the other year but correct me if I'm wrong but there was no pats on the back for not hanging around on that deal -- typical case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If we target PL proven first team ready players then we run the risk of being in for a player along with the clubs higher than us in the pecking order - and if they come in then it is unlikely we'll be the preferred destination, that's the long and short of it really - nothing changes there until we have a team that mixing it with the best.

This is where the rubber hits the road for me. There’s no reason why we will always be the second choice for players, if we are trying to sign proven talent. It’s about being decisive, and maybe taking a bit more of a risk in fee to be paid, or wages to be offered, But moving quickly is absolutely a variable we can control, and I think it’s a fair point that people call our that this playbook of ours isn’t fit for purpose if we actually want to progress.

I still hold out hope that we were negotiating hard because Frank was unsure, and we were confident in a back up option being more worth it. So I will wait until the end of the window. But this is really really close to it being simply a business as usual type of window, rather than a really impressive step change window that it was so in reach of being.

Called this ages ago. So boringly obvious what was going to happen, Arѕe just sat back, letting Spurs do the legwork and then sniped when they knew the offer they had to match or better. They've known all along that they were holding the trump card—the player wanted them. We ask for it over and over again and we never learn. Quite why Levy has this rep as the master negotiator playing 4D chess is beyond me. His style works for selling but is so counterproductive when we need to buy quality. He often seems to think he holds better cards than he does, as well, just like when he was lowballing Villa for Grealish.

I stumbled onto a Reddit thread during the MGW saga, all the top comments were bantering about Levy's negotiating prowess. Comments like 'Marianakis doesnt know whose he's dealing with'. Comment after comment eulogising Levy, I was shocked people still hold this view.
