If we appoint Frank I'm going on strike from games. Plays brick football and never accomplished anything.

For context I was pretty pro Poch before he signed because his teams played great football and did very well.

Frank is just another Nuno imo and reeks of mediocre and safe decision making.

Glasner I have similar doubts about but he has achieved far more in far shorter a timespan. He surely won't come to us though.

Didnt he get Brentford promoted to the PL for the first time?

A bigger achievement with a club like Brentford than winning the SPL with Celtic

Keep hearing this success path being about consistently finish high up the league - well we had that with Poch, won naff all and then the squad went on a massive comedown. And now we just binned off a coach who proved he could win a trophy for a guy who to be polite, hasn't.

The real recipe for success is buying real quality players (and and much as I love him Solanke isn't that) - consistently buying young players with potential is not that and until we do that this path to 'success' people go on about is not going to be achieved and why no matter what type of manager we bring in nothing ever changes here other than the manager....

Let's be real though - having a team that is able to perform week in week out will obviously have a greater chance of winning a trophy than one slumping along in the bottom half of the table. I know the stats don't support it in our case, but higher performance levels over sustained periods of time will make any athlete more competitive and increase their chances of winning. I know I'm stating the obvious here, but just wanted to say it.

Completely agree on your second part though.

I'm not in the business of comparing with Ange. He's gone and many people thought he wasn't up to it.

I just want a manager who is a clear improvement and I'm not sure Frank is it.

I just forked out £1k for my season ticket and I'd prefer not to spend it watching brick unambitious football.

Right, but you are saying Frank has achieved nothing, when that is clearly not the case

You must have been annoyed spending 1k last year watching brick, unambitious football in the league then?

Let’s revisit this one!

Would you prefer watching us lose whilst failing to play exciting attacking football? 😂

If we were playing Liverpool in the final do you think Ange would have prevailed?

Essentially what you’re saying is you like us to step down a level so we can win stuff. Which isn’t really logical either.
This is a brilliant point against the Ange had created a "winning mentality." What he did in the Europa League was brilliant in winning it. But would we have won if better teams had been in it or does it mean we are now set up to go on and win more? I don't think so. That's why I say it was on the same arc as our wins in 99 and 2008. Wonderful in their own right but not really a sign of anything further.

I'm just not sure how you get a winning mentality when you lose so many games. Winning is a habit, one that we haven't been in from week to week. Ange didn't build a winning mentality. That may have come next, but what Ange built was togetherness, openness and almost a win together, lose together mentality. The 2 things are subtly different in my mind.

I wanted to see Ange in absolute pain if we didn't win and keep a clean sheet. He never came across as that. From the start, he seemed to want to punt that thought process down the line and was always coming up with narratives that we weren't ready yet. We absolutely cannot have that with the next manager. We've spent hundreds of millions on this squad and will spend again this summer. This squad HAS to be a top 6 squad.

As for Thomas Frank, we shall see. You don't really know any manager until they become your manager. That's when you see the little details that make the difference. I think Frank has done a good job with Brentford. He's had a couple of seasons where they've conceded 46 and 48 goals but they've also conceded 65. If he joins Spurs, it has to be 45 goals or less every season with us. I think we'll find out very quickly that Frank and his coaching team are at that higher level than what we're used to. The attention to detail will be intense whilst also having all the togetherness and openness in the playing group. Frank is very authentic. Ange wasn't for me.

I’m on the fence with Frank and I think it’s a big gamble on him as his brand of football is very abject. However I do like the bloke and he doesn’t grate on me (not that should be any proviso of not appointing a suitable manager).

What I do like though is that he doesn’t grate improve players, and he seems to mix it up tactically. My fear is that he may just be the Scandinavian Graham potter

Again, I understand the decision. I just hope we hire someone capable of making me dream. Frank is not the answer.

I'll just be happy not wanting to jam sharp objects into my eyes over the state of the football we're playing. Being able to enjoy football on a weekly basis is more important to me than the slim chance of a cup win.

The various media outlets and by knock-on effect the social media aggregator accounts must be loving us. A quiet period. Not much transfer stuff to report on; various internationals taking place but no tournament-level interest; no photo ops of star players on their holidays to splash across their pages (as they are with their national teams). Then along comes Spurs, sacking their trophy-winning manager, with talk of other changes to come. We are going to be in full-on focus, with all the noise and rumours and rubbish that entails.
The sooner we at least get the new manager appointed the better.

Whilst Ange was a great psychologist and motivator, I don't think he was a superb analyst and coach in that he could bring more out of a player. Frank I think does.
I think this is why we like Frank.

Ange was an A+ in the area of motivation/emotional intelligence.

I think we like that (and so we should in the modern game), so would be high on the list of our requirements, Frank looks like he has that. Whether those qualities are as good as Ange, I don't know? But certainly way above a Mourinho or Conte type.

The other part I agree with...I think Frank scores well in the tactics/coaching/cleverness areas. He has PL experience, so we won't be waiting for him to 'settle in' to the league.

Obviously a step up for him but I think he has the personality for it. Speaks well, and says it like it is.
