Yeah I mean obviously messiah was an exaggeration. So what actually is the plan? After all these years I'm confused as to what it is. We are never winning the league without spending big, we can hoover plenty of young talents but will always be superseded by the teams who actually buy the top players for now.

So what is it? Frank is ok if he gets us top 6 or something this season, then season 2 has to qualify for CL otherwise we start again? This club still doesn't really have an identity for me....

To progress to a point where we're challenging in the league, champions league and in the cups I'd have thought

Ok well in that case we will either be forever rotating managers every two years or so until we change owners. And yes Poch did it for a couple of seasons, but football has moved on since then and more rich clubs have come to the party in our league....

Disagree with the last part - city and arsenal are at end of cycles, chelsea and esp united are chaos, villa and Saudi Sportswashing Machine have ffp issues. Anything below Liverpool should be up for grabs next season.

And europe has moved beyond its gallactico era. Barca and psg are using academy players

Imv a good/the right manager should be able to have us in that position with the resources available

When we're missing players that often, why couldn't he simply make adjustments to compensate? Why keep trying to play in a way we weren't capable of? He was more than happy to throw it all away once he realised the only thing he could accomplish here was to go for the EL.
It wasn't the only thing he could accomplish, it was his having the approach to make the best of the bad season we'd had due to injuries. There's only so many ways that can be said before it becomes repetitive. Would you have preferred to finish 10th and go out to Frankfurt?

You can't go in to every managerial appointment expecting the messiah, give them a couple of years and if you think they can be improved on make a change - don't see why it should be different to players really
Because that means wholesale change every 24 months if you are Spurs.

What if Frank doesn't fancy Solanke?
What if Udogie decides City are a good option?

The list will go on and on. Every two years. Stability is what is needed. Ange said this a lot and he was right. Changing all the time is expensive and disrupting. If it worked, by definition Spurs and Watford would be winning everything going, every season.

This only works when you are a City or Chelsea which is my point. We will forever be stuck in this cycle unless ownership changes or expectations do....

Stability can only come with progression - ok i get that you guys see EL win as that but the league performances suggest otherwise.

The moves we've made off the pitch and there being an actual transfer department with an eye on the medium to long term means there needn't be wholesale changes - at least any more than is usual with manager changes at other clubs. But regardless even if there would be you can't let that dictate your position on whether or not whoever is the current manager being suitable or not.

But the moves off the pitch ARE unstable. Arnesen, Comolli, Pleat, Planes, Baldini, Paratici, Munn, Lange, Kemsley, that's nine people in 21 years, 10th to come albeit Fabio is coming back it appears. So guess what....the every two year thing is exactly the same on the DoF or Sporting Director front.

We are the definition of unstable. I would bet that apart from Chelsea who have won a shed load more than us in the last 20 years, we have the highest compensation bill of any team in the land.

Saying "we are making changes now to the betterment of the team stability" is like saying "we've found the hole in our cullinder and are confident of no more leaks". Nothing will change.

Paratici has been involved for several seasons, officially/unofficially and Lange is going in to a third season - seems pretty stable. Regardless as with managers & players people in these roles can and do come and go.

Absolute bollox, what a fudging melt. If avoiding relegation was our main target, we would have prioritised that, so no, not 100%.

Amnesia is forgetting the once in a lifetime European trophy and parade down the high street.

In years to come, people will talk about that trophy, and the fact we came 17th and Ange got sacked will be a footnote, not the other way around.
which is a good reason why getting rid of ange now was good for the man himself.
his legacy is intact and people will gradually forget how terrible the vast majority of his tenure was

he sacrificed for a short term goal and bought us a memorable night. The question that had to be answered was that approach sustainable for long term success and it appears the board believed it wasnt

Very much agree! But I think Frank might be better for us than a lot of people think, because he actually has the philosophy that we need. Thing is, this has to be implemented at EVERY level of the club. Every staff member, player. The whole club need to change their thinking from being result driven, to performance and development driven. Frank is like that. He just wants to get better. Make each player better, and make the team better.

If he (or someone else in the top level management) could drive this, we will make big progress. But it's not done in one or two seasons. It's a fundamental change that takes time.

It's pretty obvious our place in football.
Our history and finances give you a good idea of where that is.

We only shift that with more money or a generational crop of players (maybe had part that with Sonny and Kane,) or/and a standout manager (like Poch). You try and manifest these things by design but it usually comes with a big dose of luck.

You sound depressed/deflated about it? Our current identity has been pretty much the same for the last 20 years. Maybe you're bored of it?. But there are good moments....one was just over 2 weeks ago...don't let that fade out so quickly.
