Harry Winks

A player showing little confidence wouldn't have made that pass to Alli, the much safer option would've been to just play it out towards the corner but instead he backed himself to make it and we put the game to bed as a result.

Only just joined the forum, but Winks is Marmite between my friends and me. I really can't see it. To me he is exactly like Mason, Bentaleb, and even Stephen Clemence. He passes the ball left to right and backwards, has loads of energy, but offers little more. He treats the ball like a hot potato and shows little confidence. Yes, he obviously has some ability, but to me he is a Hull/Stoke/West Brom player.

Look at this -> http://www.skysports.com/football/n...s-finally-showing-his-importance-to-tottenham

A key point to understanding Wink's impact is understanding how Poch's team plays, and how our tempo (or lack of), how quickly we recycle in midfield makes the difference between us playing well and being able to break down teams. Think back to when Poch first put Mason/Bentaleb into midfield and we changed the tempo and looked so much more effective as a team. The stats would indicate his passing is a lot more effective than you give him credit for, he's also one of those players (like Eriksen, Modric, etc.) where if you are not looking at what he is doing when without the ball, it's very difficult to judge his impact and value to team.

Personally Winks has been neat and effective for me, not dominating (which based on age/experience is normal), the best thing that can be said imo is he doesn't seem to have bad/poor games. The question to me is does he become a more offensive player (direct threat, final pass type players) or a more Modric type, control the game, make the pass before the final pass.

It certainly seems to have worked for Winks but Onomah has gone backwards IMO.

I just think Onomah isn't good enough, maybe not as a player, but for Poch's system.

Poch's system is tough, lot of players simply won't make the grade, part of it is physical, part of it is intelligence.

Can you get your mates to join the forum? They are clearly better judges than you :D :D :D

A really good game today. Stepped into Dembele's (big) shoes easily and showed we are in good hands going forward.

He was very good today. Sprayed the ball around with consummate ease, showed some lovely little bits of skills to get out of tight spaces with the ball at his feet, and didn't get knocked off it at all despite his size inviting some fairly intense man-marking from their players. Plus, he seems to have gotten a bit bulkier, which can only help given that the man he's trying to usurp is none other than Mousa Dembele - a near perfect combination of bison-like physical strength and the delicate technical skills of Messi in his more artisanal moments. :)

He's as special as you!

Today was a step up game for Winks. Said it before, not as enamored with Winks as some are, good neat footballer that helps the side tick.

Today, especially at start (possibly with Eriksen not starting), he looked like he was tearing the opposition apart, play like that more often, and we can really talk about him being special.

I reckon he made more passes than their team
