Transfer Rumour Thread

We've got 8 very strong AMs - Lamela, Alli, Son, Njie, Eriksen, Chadli, Onomah and Pritchard (plus Oduwa coming through). Njie in particular has pace to burn, but none of them are slouches.

If anything we're overloaded in that position - I think (once Njie and Pritchard return) there might even be fall-out from too many players expecting to be involved.

IMO that would be no different to Wimmer covering Verts for the next 3-6 weeks. Or Bentaleb covering an injury to Dier. Or Njie covering an injury to Lamela. There's enough quality and versatility in the squad for all eventualities.

I actually forgot about Pritchard. If he's good enough, then you know Poch will give him a chance. In that case, we may see one of the wide-forwards/attacking mids sold to make a bit more room, even if nobody else comes in.

Well what i meant was, i am not suggesting we should buy a world class player in January. Because if i had suggested that i would then get replies telling me big signings rarely happen in January and who would we get and its unrealistic etc, etc.

Apparently UTD are scouting Kane and Alli and have been building dossiers on the two of them over the past month or so. Obviously the fact that they are both tied to long term contracts, are both central to what Poch wants to create and in the case of Kane have already reiterated their desire to stay at Spurs means nothing. Also they might want to buy one of our left backs and one of our right backs to sort out their injury crisis. They are even saying it's LVG who wants them in the summer as if he' still going to be in charge.

We are 4th in the table so prime target for 'their' CL spot so just their monkeys in the media trying to turn a few heads and unsettle players. They are so desperate though that it is almost a scattergun approach rather than the specific targetted of yore.

They are also closing in on Neymar, Ronaldo, Bale, Cavani, Marquinhos, Musa and Renato Sanchez among others and that's just in the last couple of days.

I love the bit about how utd intend to 'poach them'... I stupidly forgot their contracts run out at 2pm tmrw, allowing just enough time for medicals to be done and personal terms to be agreed.

Will be a tad dissapointing to see Davies, Rose, Trippier, Walker, Ali and Kane in those red utd shirts.

Maybe after the 'poaching' is complete we could keep Rose on loan until the summer?

Or does the 'poaching' not allow for that??
 
I like how they've been building dossiers on Kane and Alli, I'm sure they will learn a lot with all that research!

If they start getting aggressive with us, it could escalate into a full-on Thucydides’ trap situation

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has preferred £10million former Swansea star Ben Davies at left-back this season – and that has encouraged Man United to believe they could land former England Under-21 star Rose.

Rose, called into the senior England squad for the first time in August 2014 for a Euro qualifier in Switzerland, is seen by United as the perfect player to cover for long-term absentee Luke Shaw.

And with Ashley Young likely to be out until the end of March and Marcos Rojo recovering from shoulder surgery, Van Gaal desperately needs reinforcements.

But Pochettino is unwilling to sell any more of his stars in January after allowing winger Andros Townsend to join Saudi Sportswashing Machine for £12m.

Spurs reckon they are ahead of United in terms of team building and don’t want to help to a club competing with them for a Champions League place.
