Saido Berahino

But Poch has already said he wants a striker. I think he has been quoted as saying he wants someone who could both play alongside Kane, lead the line and has some PL experience. That really narrows the field to just about Berahino now that Austin has gone. This desire for more attacking options also seems to back up the fact we were reportedly almost desperate to sign him on the last day of the last transfer window. Therefore not to sign anyone would be a distinct failing imo to give Poch what he wants and would represent an option that is certainly worse than not signing him or someone like him.

He's also been quoted saying he's happy with Son and N'jie as options for CF back up if his primary target was unattainable - so whilst it seems pretty clear Berahino was that target in the summer it's uncertain how desperate he is to get him (or someone else) in this window.

Hopefully it's a case of shifting Townsend to Saudi Sportswashing Machine and using that money to finance the deal (Peace might think he's won if we go in with an offer with more upfront cash than before?)

Son has not been the same since his foot problem. He may need more time to settle also, we know it can take some considerable time for players to adapt to a new team and Poch's teams are very particular in there methodology and ask a lot physically from incoming players. Give him more time people.
Not seen anyone who is not willing to give Son time. Rather that currently he hasn't done enough to be starting in the Pl ahead of Eriksen or cover as the lone striker for Kane.

TOON TO SWOOP FOR SAIDO

Saudi Sportswashing Machine are set to launch an £18million bid for out-of-favour West Brom striker Saido Berahino, according to the Daily Mail.

The paper reports that owner Mike Ashley is prepared to green light the move and that the club will make formalise their interest in the coming days.

Don't know if Berahino is injured or anything, but he's not involved in their cup match today. Then again, he doesn't play much at all these days, does he?

Chelsea,City and and United have all been very quiet in this window imo because they are all going to have new managers in the summer and so won't spend now as the new manager will have new ideas. There is no point in Chelsea buying Berehino as he won't improve their position anyway so its between us and Saudi Sportswashing Machine if we match their bid and terms he will pick us.Whether we will is a different story.Makes little difference to us now whether this drags out to deadline day but i would imagine that wba would like the money sooner.

According to The Sun (via Bleacher Report), West Brom have increased the asking price for Berahino to £30m.

I can't believe that's true though. I don't have the highest opinion of Peace, but nor do I think he's stark raving mad.

Reckon there's a currency mix up there in the publication!

Peace is a clam though, I think there is less than a 1% chance he will sell to Levy and will take a lower offer from a Saudi Sportswashing Machine or somone else and SB will concede just get a move from that clam that looks like someone out the flying pickets
