the Tim Sherwood man love thread

He gave ONE player his debut, mostly to show he wasn't like the man that had the job before him. What everyone ignores is that Bentaleb had been involved under AVB as well. Played in some pre season friendlies and named in match day squads. He wasn't picked from obscurity by Dimmy and his performances that season just showed that Bentaleb wasn't really ready for first team football.

Academy players used by AVB: Adam Smith, Andros Townsend, Jake Livermore, Ryan Mason, Tom Carroll, Jonatan Obika, Steven Caulker, Harry Kane, Coulthirst. He even played Fryers just as much as Sherwood did.

You're not being serious are you? Being picked for friendlies and match day squads is hardly the same to getting actual Premier League or even Europa League game time. Sherwood came in and within the first game gave Bentaleb his debut. He's not the finished article by any stretch but I'm glad at the very least both him and Poch have given him game time and have given him a chance to develop, whether he becomes a regular remains to be seen.

Smith, Mason, Obika and Coulthirst didn't get a single sub apperance let alone a start so I don't know why AVB gets credit for "using them".

Btw, did you miss my post where I stated he was a championship/league 1 manager at best? I get that people don't like the guy I'm not even that keen on him myself but even the faintest praise of any aspect of any positive result he achieved is put down to luck. Asking a lot I know, but is there anything you think he actually did well?

Well after 35 years in management and 15 clubs I would think he has, who knows IF Sherwood sticks around that long he may as well.

The players listed played senior football under AVB, not just friendlies. There's at least half a dozen more that were involved in pre season.

It's just part of Sherwood's game, convince everyone that he was so much better at giving youth a chance. He's just a bellend that will never get anywhere on managerial ability alone, so has to constantly spout crap to get attention.

I think he will turn out to be a manager who will bounce around clubs, keep getting sacked but will always be offered a job by lesser teams. A bit like Warnock and the likes.

But Warnock has achieved stuff to get an employable reputation from Notts County in his early days and Sheffield Utd. Deadwood has nothing really and only has a certain few number of rolls of the dice to get a CV worth taking a punt on.

He gave Bentaleb his debut. There's no silly link that disproves that Scara. We also instantly looked better going forward and started to attack with more players in the box. I'm not saying we should build a statue for him, but we've had worse managers.

You're missing the point Scara is trying to make. You're juding him based on results in that half a season... We've seen teams far inferior to us have great half a seasons in the past. Doesn't make their manager good, or even not bad. It's the kind of variance you get in football results.

I don't think looking only at debuts is fair.

He Bentaleb an extended run. Looking at what Pochettino has done his chance would probably have come sooner or later, but Sherwood trusted him and gave him time. That deserves credit. He also gave Kane real game time in the Premier League. That's very different to giving someone a debut.

He'll be battling for promotion to the PL with AVB.

Sherwood stands up really poorly in a comparison with AVB I think. AVB will walk into a good job on the continent when he's done at Zenit and Sherwood will be lucky to get a job with someone realistically fighting for promotion from the Championship.

I think Warnock is a generally crap manager and a bellend, but even i would feel it is a big insult to him that anyone should compare him to Sherwood; he has at least won promotions to the top flight with clubs like Notts County and Sheffield United, and then again with doped-up QPR. Getting promotion with Notts County was especially a big achievement - who also remembers our quarter final with his Notts County team when we last won the cup with Gazza late top-corner screamer?? That was a VERY good lower league side under Warnock who game us a massive scare!
Of course, once he get to the top flight his limitations are there for all to see.

However, Sherwood is not even fit to lick his boots and i challenge anyone to argue otherwise

This is getting out of hand, I never said he was a better manager then anyone else what I said in the first place is that I see Sherwood being the type of manager who bounces about the Lges and keeps getting sacked. Warnock is one of those ( been sacked at least 6 times). Warnock has had 15 clubs and it would not surprise me if Sherwood ends up doing the same andIF he does then the chances are he my win something as well. After all he has already taken one club to the FA Cup final. ;)

I'd be very surprised if there are 15 chairmen stupid enough to employ Captain Bellend, and I don't hold many football chairmen in high regard.

Well you have more faith in chairman then I do obviously :) I will add that I think Sherwood is dingdonghead but there are a lot of managers around who are.

I see that Bowyer has been sacked by Blackburn. I seem to remember them making an approach for Sherwood when he was with us. I wonder if they might go for him again.
