Re: Mcarthy - after the likes of Paulinho who come here with the majority of us excited about how amazing he will be and he then proves us wrong, it might be refreshing to get someone in who people have low expectations of/think is crud who may then go on to also prove us wrong...

Tbh I haven't really taken a lot of notice of him at Everton this year, but for Wigan he was brilliant.

And they got relegated!!! I thought he shone like a turd rolled in glitter in a floating in diarrhoea

Now thats a football analogy

Contrary to Eamon Dunphy's assessment, McCarthy generally impresses me when he plays for Ireland, except in the last couple of matches where he has actually been the worst of a bad lot. Properly awful performances. But I'm not sure how much of that is down to a general problem within the Ireland camp, so I wouldn't necessarily hold that against him.

Aside from that, I've always thought he'd be a decent enough signing and might do well at Spurs. Not going to lie... he wouldn't be my first choice, but I wouldn't be disappointed if he joins either. I'm not sure I want us to spend a significant proportion of our summer budget on him though. If he was available on the cheap, I think it'd be a no-brainer. He'd make a fine squad player at the very least. And maybe there's a Levy-special in the works... somehow he's convincing Everton that Lennon is worth £12m and we end up with McCarthy for £4m + Lennon. In which case, get the lad in, Daniel!

Roger Morgan says: Stambouli to Watford too

JJetset:
We wont shift Dembele unless we get an astronomically amazing offer come in for him. Which wont happen.

in response to Dembele being on Poch's crud list: He's not but has to put it about in training too ;)

he then said:
Alli plus 1 other

trix:
am told all areas the manager is concerned about will be addressed with players he is has already agreed he is happy with.

trix on mitrovic:
We have been watching him for ages. I certainly wouldn't rule this out

The Goat:
Two cabbages, one smaller than the other but from the same grocery

I wonder if the Goat is referring to players from a country which is known to have cabbage highly prominent in its cuisine and they they play at the same club?
Or could cabbage refer to a position/duty on the pitch??

Anyway, more importantly what is meant by the "Alli plus 1 other" statement??

I take Alli + 1 as our CM reinforcement.

I believe the goat is referring to his own brain.

I like Dunphy for the entertainment mostly. He's not the most insightful pundit and often just regurgitates press opinion which is a bit disappointing, but I'm not sure he too far wrong on McCarthy. Underachiever is how I would describe him and it's a shame really as when he plays he is always on the cusp of a great performance but never delivers in the end. He looks like he is just about to take over a match and command it, but then doesn't. Not the right stuff IMO.

Re The Goat's "two cabbages" comment: LutonSpurs just posted in the TA thread that some guy one Twitter said we had a 10M bid accepted for him by Atletico Madrid and also that Mario Suarez has started following a Spurs-related Twitter account...hmmm...could this be what is meant by the "two cabbages from the same grocer" comment??

Or not the right coach maybe? ;)

Interesting news on that front. Gonna be a brick load of cash flying our way if true too, which i like and don't like. So long as we keep creating home grown talent and giving it a chance to succeed i'm happy.

Good luck trying to find a Spurs-related account;
https://twitter.com/MarioSuarez4/following

I couldn't find one anyway.

Alderweireld is Belgian -> Brussel sprouts

or.. They are meeting at the Savoy (cabbage) to do the deal or.. The two one big one small is reference to Portugal Cabbage (yes that is a variety) and concerns the U-21 central midfield duo. :D

I think we should just buy all the Belgians ( I mean cabbages) around. Alderwereld, Miralles and Benteke for starters - as well as Hazard and Kompany for good measure. It would make the team talk much easier.

Does Belgium not have two languages though, so need to be a bit carefull.
Wonder which is cheaper!

JJetset on Embolo: he isnt a target currently
our target is better than that
not mitrovic either!
Lot of pace !

If you are expecting big big names you will be disappointed as its sadly not a market we are in anymore.
If you are expecting up and coming quality prospects with some European & PL experienced players to make us a fast moving pressing top 4 team then you are following the right club.

cant really think of an up and coming striker with lots of pace who we could afford. I mean Martial is not coming, so any other names out there?
