Many of these things are in our nature as for many creatures in the animal kingdom.I understand the history of Zionism pretty well. Since the Hamas attack, I'm sure we all have been reading more on this. Now I might have qualified my comment with a qualification on the form of Zionism - labour, revisionist, etc. or this current ultra-nationalist flavour, but I have to be honest, I didn't think it needed it.
We all believe in fictions of one form or another. Everyone does, though they may not see it like that. A limited company is a fiction. It is not an actual thing outside of our acceptance that it exists. Civil rights are a fiction, and the laws are a fiction, and as you can see from the US, Trump and his goons can easily discard them if they so choose. Some of the biggest zealots on the planet are those who worship the great bull GHod, make line go up! Nation-states are a fiction and how they are created is often based on some arbitrary nonsense from history.
(edit: that is Noah Harari btw - not some great insight I've had!)
There is territoriality. Then there is also dominance and control.
These are integral to us and are not made up.
