I think that’s a very delusional statement.

We would all do well to show respect for the guy who has won us a trophy. We might well be here in 2045 without one.

Winning any trophy is not easy. Especially at Tottenham.

I don’t think we can expect to win instantly crack top 4. This squad has players that all of us (including me) have overestimated and over applauded

What we are is a 17th placed outfit. That’s sign of a lot of work ahead of us.
I think it's interesting that people accept the narrative that we have the 17th best team/squad in the league.

What is the stat? In 20 years previous we hadn't been out of the top 8.

Ive seen posters say a reason that he should have been given time is that we finished 5th in his first season. How have we then gone from 5th best to 17th best and the majority of the squad is the same as is the majority of every other teams?

If Frank or whoever gets us 10th is he then a genius as we have the 17th best team in the league?

Fukin romantics are occasionally swaying me but I still contend that this is an understandable decision and a rational one.

However the players reactions are extraordinary. He really is loved by the players. But these are professionals and they will be fine with the new coach.
Indeed. I thought the consensus was that this was going to be a tough decision and not one anyone would like to be making?

So once said decision has been made, I don't think being outraged, angry, tinkled, or thinking 'typical' 'ridiculous' 'ffs' 'same old Spurs'.....computes?

In fairness, I think most people are speaking out of emotion ATM. I mean I have been Ange out since the start of the year but even then I feel sad for him. You could not help but be moved and carried by the emotion around the parade.

Even with that said, I think this is a courageous move by the board and one, in the cold light of day I support. But he still goes with my thanks.
You’ve articulated very well how I feel mate. I’ve adamantly wanted Ange out since Everton away but feel strangely rotten about the whole situation right now.

The board can’t judge this on emotion. They’ve got to look at it with cold hard logic and do what they think is best. There is very sound logic behind their decision - whether it proves right or wrong, only hindsight with tell us.

I can understand the decision even though not in full agreement in it.

Really appreciate him for a lot of what he's done for us. The trophy obviously, but not just that. He dared, he gave us some fantastic games and moments. Integrated a ton of young players and oversaw a huge turnover in players while at the same time losing a generational Spurs player while our other star attacker was on the wane. He was mostly honest, one of the most decent men in this kind of job I've ever seen. He made me care, engage, enjoy again, long before the EL win when that too was waning after years of dicheads in charge of boring football. It's obviously not just his achievement, but he leaves us with a squad in a much better position than when he came having given a lot of experience to young players very much in need of that and on top of that experience of actually winning something.

Very much appreciat what he did for us, how he did it. I also appreciate what he tried to do that ultimately didn't work.

We move on, he moves on. But thank you Ange.

(this is not meant as the starting point of another discussion on what has already been done to death)

I'm not sure I care about what the players currently feel that much as long as their heads are in a great place come July 1st.

I fully understand that Ange had a majority mindshare with them. Not all would be my guess, but most. What was that mindshare all about though? A belief system was installed that created happiness coming to work, togetherness and openness and I've already said it's a massive stretch to call it a winning mentality. It was more of a win together, lose together mentality but we never got into winning habits week to week.

What they haven't realised yet is that Frank (if he joins) appears to be the ultimate people manager. I've read a fair few times that he has amazing relationships with his players. He appears to have never had a problem with togetherness and openness with his playing squads since he stepped into first team duties. He is authentic and hugely respected from his players. They run through brick walls for him.

Our players will get their heads around what is just happening. It will help them grow up. These periods of life always do.

The social media posts from players doesn't suggest a mutiny. Far from it. Some of them are distinctly underwhelming. Almost like they appreciate and like him, but know to kick on, they need a new leader.

COYS

It's just the standard posts when any manager gets sacked.

Just watching Sky Sports News; 2 minutes now on how much the players in the England squad are (allegedly) loving working with Thomas Tuchel. It astonishes me that anyone sets any store by any of it. What else do people think players will publicly say about managers?

The medical team vs Ange conversation is an interesting one. It does make me wonder whether Munn has been doing what Munn does best in the background. Like he has been doing with Lange on the recruitment area, I wonder if he has put some proper correlation diagnostics between the different areas of coaching, fitness conditioning and medical practice. I wonder if the data has built over time and told a story internally to the leadership team that has contributed to the decision on the manager. Only me speculating of course.

I think it's a bit more than that. He clearly had a close bond with a lot of the players and there's a warmth that comes acoss in the messages that makes them less anodyne than might normally be seen.
No mention of 'sorry to see you go' however (but maybe a player wouldn't post that and that's probably looking too deep into what's written).

But will his leaving make players more likely to head for the exit door? Not if that wasn't already on the cards.
Are they likely to 'muntiny' against a new manager - no, of course not. Why would they?

There isnt one.
Better managers have gone elsewhere after winning stuff and there isnt a mutiny
There wont be one here
100%.... I remember Hoddle saying that watching his close youth team mates not getting professional contracts was so hard but he still cracked on and a manager leaving after that was much less significant for him...Many of these players too have probably.....seen their own friends in tears......after not getting youth contracts but will have just carried on too...As warm as they may feel about Ange, their career will be their number one priority......

It doesn't for me. I'm seeing normally rational Spurs fans absolutely distraught about this. Personally I'm gonna look at it as an understandable decision based on his performance last season.

The cup win was great. As it was with Ramos. But decisions have to be made and clearly the club felt it was the right time.

I get it. I don't love it. I don't hate it. I'm still very excited for next season.

You say that, but we’ve not actually tried one.

His signings were initially seen as risks, that then worked out, when we got over how slow Kulu was, and how lightweight Bents is.

Maybe his manager choice will have an equal impact…
He tends to favor managers that are more defensive (Nuno, Conte, etc), which don't align with the ethos of the club. But I may be wrong and he may make an excellent managerial appointment. Might be moot though, since it looks like it will be Frank.

The game is no longer about glory, its about finishing top 4. If the league position was such an issue, why do it now, why not weeks/months ago? Instead Levy is happy to take £60 a ticket off people (me and my son included) every week for a product (the football) he knows is brick but did nothing about it.

The statement is full of contradictions and tells me everything about what the board prioritises are. We wont see another trophy for some time given the priorities the board has outlined.

As i stated, i think it is the correct decision.

My relegation comment can be taken as flippant but the general point i was making is we deserve what we get now.

The game can be about both?

Or do teams who complete a Cup win, Double or even the Treble abandon the "glory".

Stating that "we won't see another trophy for some time" is objective, and won't happen to us in the Championship, something you hope we achieve.

Misery and you appear to be very close friends.

Riddle me this guys.

The Premier League has been running for 32 years.
That is 20 teams x 32 = 640 times a manager has started a season.
Oh and I think 3 years where the were 22 teams, so for the massive pedants amongst you, 646 or thereabouts.

Of those 646 manager/ season starts... sometimes a manager was sacked with 2 points after 8 games or whatever.

So Ange Postecoglu last year is not the worst ever, but he must be right up there as one of the worst performances, given the players at his disposal.

Maybe 600th worst? Or at least 500th worst. That has to be sackable, sorry.

Ange the human is a decent guy, but his system had and still has enormous flaws that he refuses to fix. The midfield is wide open, the full backs are trying to be #10s AND try to defend, it was just silly in the end.
