Conte won the title with Inter before he came to us. We were top with Mourinho for some time and in the cup final. Not saying we would have won the title ...
We were top
I couldn’t work out to enjoy it or hate the stress of if we win we stay top. It was an odd feeling
We were also top up Nuno briefly
But it where you end up that matters
Sacking Jose as daft when we did it but that was clear at the time and now
But the big trophies…
Yeah conte won the league in Italy with the team that spent the most and focussed on one comp. It’s doable over there
Here you have city for starters.
I’m Italy they have had 4 different winners in 4 years because the money isn’t as one sided and there has been some real changes to how teams play. Conte will see that next season

Armchair fan or not its clear as day that some managers have a different skillset than others regardless of trophies. Conte decided on one set of tactics at Spurs and died on that hill proclaiming to the world he could do no more. A lesser man has come in and identified two weaknesses the past weekend and those were addressed, I mean if it worked against Palace might have worked against Southampton. I admit its an armchair view but there is some logic to the idea.....
Conte, the genius, stuck with a keeper who couldn’t pass in a team he set up to pass around at the back….
That keeper literally threw the ball in his own net… he kept him as his fudging captain
Football is a simple game made complicated by the people who are supposed to know it best

Blokes obviously a top manager but there were alternatives which he ignored and went out blaming all around him, says alot about people who respect that kind of person because purely what they have won in the past. Lets not pretend that alot of it is down to people getting a hard on because they agree with his opinion on the players but forget he was the manager of the team and not a fan like them...also alot to do with them seeing it as a pot shot at the board. Most just want a manager who does the best he can, not Martin Luther Grim

He won title with Chelsea here too

All while competing against Emirates Marketing Project, United, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Arsenal, Liverpool, all of which have a better starting XI and in most cases a better balanced squad. To add Aston Villa into the mix along with a pochettino managed Chelsea, Brighton ...

As I said, I think if we had replaced Conte with Mason we would still be in a battle for a CL place.

Specifically it would be a battle for 4th which excludes City and Arsenal who are competing for the title and Saudi Sportswashing Machine who have created a bit of a gap, although I am convinced they would not have hammered us 6:1.

Have no idea why you brought Poch and Chelsea into the discussion as he does not currently manage Chelsea who are safe from relegation.

The battle would have been with Liverpool, Brighton and Villa with nothing written in stone

I think we would have got 3rd this season if we had changed managers during the WC, when it was already clear the wheels had come off. And not just to Mason, to pretty much anyone else.

We could have got an an FA cup and CL final too. The (struggling) competition and (favourable) draws were all in our favour this year.

We could have got Donald duck in as manager

You massively overrate our abilities. You're borderline delusional. [emoji1787] A fight for the top 4 sure but clear 3rd? Have you seen our defence?!? [emoji1787]

The same defence as last season. Just more badly coached, psychologically damaged and permanently on the back foot.

Another manager might have kept Spence and used the Porro funds to buy a CB

Also a year older. Sometimes players drop suddenly as they age. Dier and Lloris's decline might well be the cause rather than the symptom, resulting in Conte setting up for damage limitation as he saw the signs.

The counter-argument of course, is why the hell did he then buy an expensive WB rather than spending it on a CB?

Exactly, why also wait to be shown up by an absolute novice who drops the once bombproof Dier by also changing up the formation?

Alot that makes no sense, even from the armchair

Not defending Conte, but the death of 3 close friends might have impacted his thinking, showing more loyalty to players than normal instead of being ruthless.

That's fair. Whatever the reasons, Conte hasn't been the manager many of us expected / hoped for this season. There have been some very strange decisions, from buying Porro to sticking with a woeful Sonny. Or instructing Sonny to not shoot from pretty much his favourite spot. And yet there are still people blaming Levy for not backing him. I don't get it.

It's entirely possible that Levy and Conte sat down for a chat, recognised the issues that the latter had been through this season, and agreed to draw a line under it all. I doubt we'll ever know for sure.

No and that's really fair, I said the same before, this season was a disaster for him for many reasons, some by his own design and some very much out of his hands. Despite me believing he shoulders some of the blame in what seems like a continuous argument about accountability, I did feel sorry for him too.

The funk started from the first game in August. We should have had all the momentum in the world after the finale and close season we had, but something had gone rotten before it even started.

Said the same thing a few weeks back on here and add to the fact he had to have emergency surgery and his family being elsewhere leads me to think he had just had enough. Now i am not defending him but i would imagine anyone of us IF we had the same run of things we would probably had enough of things.

I wonder if the players had empathy with Conte’s health nor his grief.

Didn’t seem to play out like that anyway.
