Victimpool FC - Klopp leaving, grown men crying

Rafa or bust for who? the fans or the players or both....because if it was the players then again i dont see how thats possible as the current squad is full of players signed after Benitez left, so it not as though there is any sentimentality amongst them and they are harking after their old boss

yes, there is a big amount of fans who want Benitez back, but id say it 50 50 if phone ins and forums are anything to go by.

For the fans. Players don't care.

The fans turned against him the moment he was hired, partly because he replaced Benitez, partly because he was the choice of probably their least popular owners ever and partly because they didn't rate him.

It seems that the Liverpool dressing room was quite divided, some of the players reportedly wanted rid of Benitez, they were probably happy with Hodgson, but others were reportedly unhappy with the sacking of Benitez and were unhappy with Hodgson from the beginning. Hodgson and Liverpool was just the wrong man at the wrong time all round. Quite hilariously so...

Exactly. And anyone that thinks it was the fans that lead to his demise want's their head checking, there were a lot of pundits making very broad remarks about the attitude in the Liverpool dressing room. Hodgson got poor results because the team wouldn't play for him, not because the fans were booing him.

Strange he picked half the Liverpool team for England.

yep, surely if influential senior players like Johnson and Gerrard were against Hodgson he would have felt it and known and wouldnt have selected them for England, and definitely not made Gerrard captain

Hodgson was given 6 months because the fans wanted Kenny boy back from the very beginning, that put pressure on everyone at the club, players, management, and Hodgson had absolutely no chance

Wasn't Gerrard injured for 95% of the time that Hodgson was there?

Listen, just because Hodgson has picked Gerard etc doesnt mean he has to like them or gets on well with them. Country management is different, he doesnt see them every day, and he is not going to cut his nose off to spite his face if he has players that are good available to him.

everything ive read and heard about Hodgson is that he is not one to easily forgive and forget. Ok, lets say you are right and he would pick someone like Gerrard no matter what, still that doesnt explain why he gave Gerrard the honour of captaining the country. Hart, Lampard, Parker were all worthy and credible candidates

They'll be spending the next month cooped up in a hotel together. If there were any significant problems at Liverpool he wouldn't have picked them. Especially Gerrard given all the talk about planning for the future.

exactly, and despite what Hodgson says, he knew he couldnt take both Terry and Ferdinand in the same squad because of the tensions it would have created, and so had to decide on who was in better form and fitness and id say Terry was the right choice because Ferdinand is more likely to break down having to play so many games in such a short period of time. Sensible

Yeah, the ones that came in AFTER HE LEFT!

Kelly, Johnson and Gerrard were already there before Woy arrived, only Henderson and Carroll signed after......are you deliberately trying to wind everyone up, is the heatwave got to you?:)

Downing, Henderson and Carroll signed afterwards and Kelly is a boy, the only two in the list that could potentially be part of the problem are Gerrard and Johnson. Who knows who threw their toys out of the pram whilst he was there, you rarely ever get find out until some prick releases his lifes memoirs.

It's pretty much nailed on common knowledge that Terry has managed to get rid of two Chelsea managers yet you'll never find a quote. Gerrard is sensible chap and I wouldn't have expected him to be the type to spit his dummy at a manager like Roy coming in, but that doesn't mean a large portion of the dressing room didn't. Beleive what you want, but if you actually listen to people in football Roy lost the dressing room, in fact, he didn't even have it to start with.

When he was there they did exactly what he wanted them to do: Play a boring, defensive, rigid form for football. Problem is you can't play for the draw if you want to be in the top 4.

Did you happen to see the media exposure last time captaincy was changed ? There was more media interest in that than there was man walking on the moon. Maybe it was brick he could be doing without.

You make being couped up in a hotel like a 25 man squad fitting into a 2 man tent. Dont make it sound worse to highlight your opinion on being correct.

It's not like we've seen an England camp with it's captain and vice captain barely speaking to each other is it :-"

big difference there..if he never had it in the first place then it couldnt have been lost could it?

I think it was more a case of wrong man, wrong time. The pressure and presence of Kenny, the whole Gillette Hicks debacle, takeover by FSG, lack of funds, a poor imbalanced squad, key injuries, everything conspired against Hodgson
