Transfer thread

"We cannot get any better players than what we have," Mourinho added. "I like them all.

"It's one thing to say we are not scoring enough goals but another to say my players are not good enough - and my players are very good.

"So in relation to the transfer market - I don't want to replace my attacking players."

Not that wholesale changes in attack were likely, however unless there is a deliberate nuance around the word 'replace' (ie as opposed to 'add to') this means we can ignore the links to various CFs

We need fullbacks urgently, ones that can actually cross a ball. This is why Liverpool are so much better than us, our fullbacks have more than enough chances to create chances yet their decision making is shocking. Winks could easily become our Henderson if we had good fullbacks.

I see people mentioning selling Sissoko. If you think Mourinho is in the habit of selling powerful, multi positional, generally fit players that are happy enough to be part of a squad then I think you may be surprised. Either you will or I will.
This makes me sad, very sad.

That’s frightening.

Anyone can see our midfield and fullbacks are a joke.

The decline in player quality over the last 4 years is shocking. Sissoko, Aurier, Lucas - all key players, but crap crap footballers.

Yes, but top 2 transfer priorities in my view are DM and RB so if he can only bring 2-3 in, then he doesnt have many shots left

that’s just sticking to the script

Agree, but at the same time I don’t think he’s far off telling the truth. He wanted Moura previously, Bergwijn has impressed, Son can be good, I think he rates Dele, and even Lamela is probably his type of AM with his work ethic. I’m not sure there will be many casualties from this lot, will be more about Jose getting the right formula and trying to get their mojos back....

Their not all played who can play without a system though

I agree. I think he's also trying to win the players' loyalty. Back at Inter, a few of his guys were willing to go to war for him and I think it was the same thing at Chelsea, the first time around at least. Creating a strong bond with the core of his squad is part of his method. Once he's got them on his side, he makes himself even more obnoxious to create a siege mentality. It's always 'them' against 'us'.

It's not necessarily a bad thing though. If anything, it served Ferguson well at Manchester United. I'm just not convinced it will work with this group of players.

The way Bergwijn has played in the last three games he’s not feeling the love from Jose, he’s been dreadful.
Such a rapid drop of form and attitude it Is baffling!
