Transfer Policy

Still looking forward to a summer of rebuilding, a new manager, youngsters coming in and the so called "Superstars" leaving.

Come the summer, unless there is a conspiracy of silence amongst his friends, Harry's transfer policy at Spurs will get some public airing. It is nothing short of shambolic. Blame Levy all you like, and I know some do, but the truth is that IF Levy had given on ALL Redknapp's request, you'd be left with virtually no money to spend this summer and a bunch of early 30-year olds on massive fudging wonga; NOT progressive or smart!

I am ALL for experience, and will once again say that I was proven wrong by Scott Parker's signing (though we can now see that when over-used/knackered out, his pitch GPS goes funny) but everyone could see the issues yet Harry didn't address them definitively because he fears big money gambles.

As some have rightly said, Saudi Sportswashing Machine did very well without massive spending; look who Saudi Sportswashing Machine's chief scout is and where he came from!!!!!! Graham Carr left in February 2010, a time when fortunes were up up up. I'd like to know why...

Another royal Spurs fcuk up

Maybe he thought we should buy Cisse?

I am as well to be honest.

Hopefully there's still people who think some of our "world class" assets are worth 30m plus.

"I said to the chairman 'Can you get me Carlos Tevez'. It wasn't possible, but that was my dream, 'Can we get Tevez'. We would have loved Tevez, but it wasn't doable because his wages are whatever they are ÔÇô ?ú200,000 a week, it's not possible at Tottenham to buy him.

"It was me thinking, 'He's not in the team, he's fallen out with [Roberto] Mancini'. You don't know do you, unless you ask. It was just a little try."

And here in a nutshell sums up our joke of a transfer policy. Instead of going out to buy a quality striker we go to the other extreme - injury prone Saha. The fact that he considered Tevez shows he never gave it any serious thought because there was no chance of that deal being done

6I would like to see a change should we gain Champions Leauge.

I suggest we buy the best player from NON champions league teams from top half of table.

Liverpool - Reina
Fulham - Dempsey, Dembele
Chelsea - Drogba
Saudi Sportswashing Machine - Ba, Krul
Everton - Jaglielka, Baines
WBA - Dorrans

IMO we need to stop talk of the top 20m players from abroad. Instead do unto others what has been done to you. Mwahhahaha

Which players from the above 6 teams would you take?. Please don't say players that wouldn't come like Terry or Gerrard, actually do, you'll look a right tit, or maybe a left one with a mole.

What other transfer policy, if any, would you like to partake in?.

Our first priority would be to try and offload number of fringe players who clog up our wage bill while in turn offering nothing of substantial value to the team or simply need to move on for the sake of their careers

Saha
Nelsen
Cudicini
Gomes
Jenas
Corluka
Bassong
Bentley
Gio

King to retire

Id estimate thats around 500k/week in wages alone - tremendous amount for a club of our financial model.

As far as targets are concerned - I strongly believe we need to look beyond MotD for potential signings and aim to bring in at least one prospect similar to 'Berbatov' and Modric. In my opinion we only need 3 quality signings this summer - one in each part of the field - CF, wide midfielder/winger, and a CB. We could potentially survive another season with our current GK backup if funding is limited - i.e. we need to prioritise

As far as the names you ve listed

Reina - considerably over-rated in my opinion. Mildly better Cudicini

Demspey - does not improve our starting 11 - would struggle for fitness/confidence after a month on the bench. Not the youngest either

Dembele - good shout if he s willing to be a squad player

Krul / Ba - doubt Saudi Sportswashing Machine would even consider offers for them / they would want to leave based on the 'promise' of this season alone. Theoretically they could still make the CL at our expense rendering any transfers of value impossible

Drogba - even if remotely possible - im pretty certain Arry would try and talk to him. Massive, massive player but unlikely

Dorrans - no, thanks

So become like Liverpool?

Adam - Blackpool
Henderson - Sunderland
Carroll - Saudi Sportswashing Machine
Downing - Aston Villa?

Not sure we can sell Saha, Nelsen and Cudicini when they are all out of contract anyway.

Those 3 plus King are already gone come 30 June unless we actively seek to keep them.

Arc said "offload", not sell.

Or become like United?

Valencia - Wigan
Young - Aston Villa
Carrick - Us
Rooney - Everton
Rio - Leeds
Etc....

---------------------------

I'm not too bothered where we sign our players from if they're good enough. Most teams will sign the better players from teams in a worse situation and cast-offs from better teams, how else would it work?

Not impressed with that list at all. We should aim higher, and then maybe on the 29th of august turn to your list :)

I'd be surprised if any of them guys are on ?ú50K a week. The likes of Gio, Bassong, Nelsen and Saha are likely to be on less than half ?ú50K a week. Biggest earner there is Bentley if press reports are true and he was reported to be on ?ú40K a week, so in reality more like ?ú30K.

Threads like this are fun, though I wouldnt restrict the options to those teams

Aston Villa
Lichaj
- LB - Very very fast and looks like he could be a decent player. Good squad player.
N'Zogbia - Poor season, but has shown he can offer a real threat down the left. Good squad player.
Albrighton - Coming on well, good pass and move player - would thrive in our team.

Blackburn
Hoillett
- Would love to get him in. Can play any attacking midfield position. Very positive, always looking to move forward, quality dribbling and shot.
NZonzi - Vieiralike midfielder, will do very well in a better side.

Bolton
Miyaichi - Yes, I know, he is an Arsenal player. Looks very very talented and dangerous though and again would look very dangerous in our side.

Pre Heart-attack I would have mentioned Muamba, a hugely underated player IMHO - but DM is hardly where we need strengthening.

Everton
Based on 12 games, I know, but Jelavic looks a quality striker (Sadly not available this summer)
Baines - cracking attacking LB, free kick specialist. Would do well in our side.
Coleman - Versatile right sided player with pace to burn. Not sure about his technical game but could be worth a place in the squad.
Drenthe - Again good attacking option for the left side

Fulham
Frei - Only seen a little of him but looks a top class attacking prospect
Dempsey -
Record speaks for itself. An alternative to VDV of a different ilk.
Dembele -
Still havent decided if he is brilliant or bonkers but no doubting his ability. Im beginning to think he is a player that would suddenly look like one of the best around in a team like ours.

Liverpool
Enrique - I didnt rate him at Saudi Sportswashing Machine, have to eat my words on that one. Arguably the best LB in the league IMO, would be a fantastic buy.
Bellamy - Big fan of the Welshman, think he would bring a lot of what Harry likes to the squad.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine
Krul - Called for him a year or so ago and still think he would be a good keeper for us. Solid and reliable.
Coloccini - Another one I never rated, but has been exceptional this year. Does it all.
Cabaye - Reminds me of Carrick, fantastic and understated player. Would love him in our midfield.
Ben Arfa - Massive talent, starting to be realised. Would be sensational cutting in from the right of our team.
Ba - Would add to our striking options. Has shown he can score goals, is now showing he can do more besides.

Norwich
Ruddy - Good goal keeper, done well this year and we could do a lot worse for back up
Naughton - No, not a schoolboy error. I sincerely hope he returns next season, and stays. Has had a fantastic season this year and should be going into a shoot out with Walker for our RB spot IMO. Those two are ideal first and second choices right now IMO.
Holt - Would be a fantastic (if left field!) buy from the point of view of having a total wildcard plan B...

QPR
Taiwo - Has looked good at LB IMO, good back up to Benny
Faurlin - Is he injured? Was very impressed with him early in the season. Plays the game in his head a lot and has good technique

Stoke
Begovic - Good keeper, was a little disappointed when our deal for him fell through (though we still pocketed ?ú1m or so so cant complain!)
Crouch - While I was very happy to see us upgrade to Adebayor, I still appreciate Crouchy and think he could be useful asset.

Sunderland
Richardson - Brilliant utility player, every squad should have one
McClean - Obviously young and raw, but what a talent! Reminiscent of Bale, would be an excellent left side option
Sessegnon -
Wasnt expecially impressed last season but this year has shown what he can do. Great technique and vision, would love playing in our side
Gyan -
Striker pool strengthening. Strong, can hold uip and finish - would be an improvement for us.

Swansea
Vorm - One of the buys of the year IMHO, amazing reflexes and distribution to die for.
Caulker - Like Naughton one I sincerely hope stays with us next season
Sinclair - Operates from the left and supports the striker brilliantly. Not a "pizzaz" player but one who consistently delivers.
Dyer - Much like Sinclair, from the right.

WBA
Only players to grab me in this squad are Long and Odemwingie. Neither would improve our team but either would bring something to the squad IMO.

Wolves
Jarvis - I like this lad. Had a quiet season, was in the U21s not long ago. Needs a move to get a lift and has plenty to offer.

No, Im not saying "lets buy 38 players this summer" but I am saying there are some very good options in the teams beneath us.

Sadly very few look like offering anything to the first team, rather the over all squad. Perhaps looking abroad is the better option?

Although, in a slight twist on the OP - what about fringe players from the teams expected to be above us?

Man Utd
Berbatov - Putting aside any ill feeling - a fabulous player who would enhance our silky style. Out of contract iirc?
Nani - HUGE fan of Nani, I think he is brilliant. With Young and Valencia apparent first choices, and constant links to more attacking players (Hazard....) could he be available?

Emirates Marketing Project
Adebayor - Been brilliant for us this season, and hard to improve upon IMO
Balotelli - Bonkers but brilliant. Given the way City move players on I wouldnt be surprised if his time was up. Redknapp is possibly the best manager for him, and if he gets his head straight this lad is amazing
Dzeko - Not overly impressed, but not sure where "being rusty" stops and his ability starts so hard to judge. Highly rated and was fantastic in Germany, could be worth moving for if as expected City buy another 10 strikers...
Milner - Not the silkiest style of player, but someone who gives everything everytime. Fabulous work rate, can work very well from RW or CM. Not immediately the most inspirational of buys, but one you wouldnt regret IMHO.

Chelsea
Romeu - Only joined this summer, but under the 'old management' so could he be available? Was seriously impressive for one so young, would love him competing with Sandro longer term.
Malouda - Out of contract this summer I think?. Had a quiet season this year, behind Kalou (unbelievably!) but showed last year he can be devastating from the LW.
Drogba - Bit of a long shot, and short term, but what a fabulous striker
