*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United OMT ***

That bloke on there saying we were celebrating like we'd won the league obviously didn't see their equaliser at the Etihad last weekend.

Wow we think the bickering on here is bad. They are getting into some crazy anti-foreign fan nonsense on there.

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

He's probably just so used to beating us and getting every decision against us, that he assumed they would win regardless of how well they played.

Alan Hansen was spot on when he said this was coming for a while on Match Of The Day. They have been on the decline since Ronaldo left. They've managed to win titles and be successful purely as a result of being Man United and having Fergie despite not recognising the need for a dominant central midfielder and a centre half to replace Ferdinand/Evans.

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

Weve rolled over for them for 23 years now, I doubt he expected us to perform how we did

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

This game played out the same way every game against United does. We start great and then collapse. But Venables was a winner and AVB is a winner unlike most of the managers inbetween and we held on.

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

We've produced better performances at OT in the past and got nothing, partly because decisions have gone United's way.

Sooner or later it had to happen, critical decisions had to go our way. We played well but we also got lucky.

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

I don't think he did.

Started Scholes, something he doesn't always do, most United fans will agree that he has been a massive difference for them this season again and the one they have to bring on to sort things out when he isn't there.

Got Ferdinand ready, started Lindegaard who he must see as the better goalie these days. No starting Buttner or anything like that, Evra right in there.

Nothing happened that hasn't happened before against United, just that this time we were lucky instead of it being the other way around.

As opposed to the crazy anti-foreign fan debate that was had on here not so long ago?

They are not so different...

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

No of course he didnt underestimate us. 1 win in the last 23 years suggests he takes this fixture seriously, and yesterday our starting line up was in the top 20% of starting line ups we've put out against them in the PL.

Our performance was not much different to normal, their performance was not much different to normal (we were battered 2nd half as usual). We have good players and were due a win, there were several other opportunities in the last few years but we finally had some luck.

As for AVB being more disciplined in defending, well apart from being carved open very easily on Saturday, we also haven't kept a clean sheet in our 6 league games. I dont see AVB as a defensive manager. As for it being sorely lacking under Harry... out of any PL manager we have had the main difference was our discipline under Harry. We didnt hammer as many teams as say Jol might have, but we probably conceded a lot less and had a better away record (early signs point to AVB going on to be a very good away manager as well).

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

On one hand I thought SAF did underestimate us, but actually - apart from starting Rooney and Welbeck, far pacier than the other players that started in their front 6 - what players could they have started?

We crucified them in central midfield where they played older less pacy players than ours, but again who could they have played? Perhaps Cleverly or Anderson would have added more pace in their but only Fletcher on theor midfield staff has the ability to act as a decent defensive midfielder imo

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

Fergie just forgot the old adage... if you put enough monkeys in a room and give them type writers.... eventually they will fashion a win at Old Trafford. Or something!

Roll on 2035 for the next one, yay! ;-)

On controversial decisions:
- I thought Kagawa dove for a penalty and was really lucky not to be found out
- Nani's fall in our penalty box... that was 50:50 for me

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

sounds like Fergie isn't himself lately... oldest starting 11 possible, Christian Bale and now Silvestre back in the mix for an even older squad!

The win at Manchester United means that Spurs are the only club in the Premier League who have won their last three matches.

Hopefully, the sequence can be extended when we play Aston Villa at home on Sunday.

The Aston Villa that look like brick, are struggling for goals and haven't won away from home yet? We are doomed. Bent hat trick. Oh wait, wrong OMT. This one's amazing.

The villa that knocked Emirates Marketing Project out of the league cup away from home?

Re: Did SAF underestimate us?

No he certainly did not underestimate us, the best manager that the world has ever seen is not stupid. In that first half we played some great stuff, utd didnt have an answer, it happens. 2nd half they tore us a new one. At 2-3 they are hitting the post, crossbar etc and piling on pressure. In the end we defended fairly well and deserved it. It was just one of those games were we played well and got a win, fudge all to do with underestimation.
