With the new rules around 2 places in the CL for the clubs with the highest coefficient points that miss out on CL but qualify for other European competition coming into force in a few years' time this really is a summer in which we need to:

1. Have a decent recruitment budget.
and
2. Get our recruitment right.

This is another one of those opportune moments to cement ourselves in with the big boys that we have tended to miss out on in recent history.

Come on ENIC.... Make a cash injection or dilute your stake for one... The thing you care about most (how much money you are worth) will thank you for it in a few years' time!

In some ways this also shows that we should put more emphasis into winning this competition next season than we should the domestic cups. Good coefficient hauls in the next few years will be like gold dust.

Completely agree .. people talking about playing the kids ..

- Real opp to win a trophy (any fudging trophy)
- Will be first winner of comp
- Helps co-efficient
- If you win, no matter what you do in the league you get at minimum Europa.

I dont think you need to 'play the kids' but if we have a 22 man squad you could play roughly everyone who isnt playing in the PL game the weekend after. Certainly for the group games

If you have an engrained system then players should be able to come in and out interchangeably.

Quite different to fielding the under 23s

I think that we should be looking to include a few of the u23s in the squad. At least in the group stages.

Its a blurry line - we'll have some from that in/around the first team squad I expect, but then lots of the U23s on the bench in ECL games I expect
 
Draw for the first qualifying round was made today. Matches to be played 8 & 15 July. Most of these teams will be eliminated in the 3 qualifying rounds before the play-off round but there will probably be two or three that reach the play-off round when Spurs enter. Maribor are the highest ranked team starting at this stage.

I think it's only 8pts less if you win this compared to the CL winners.

A casual look only suggests Roma are in our way.

And I think the trophy itself is rather nice.

That's so much unknown in one place.

I just randomly looked up FC Noah from Armenia. The club was founded as FC Artsakh in 2017 and won promotion to the top flight in it's first season. In 2018 it was renamed FC Noah.

It is currently owned by a man named Karen who was born in the USSR, is a general and a former minister of defense in the partially recognized Republic of Artsakh.

The FC Noah player Vadim Pareili was an unused substitute for Sheriff Tiraspol in both our games against them in 2013.

I know it's not the most glamourous but we should really win this trophy, sounds like Roma are really the only other decent team in it so there's no excuses.

Need to be careful on the co-efficient points as well, next 2 seasons we'll lose 2 lots of high point scoring seasons and last few years haven't gone so well.

It's guaranteed Europa spot, good co-efficient points and a fudging trophy

To me it's should easily be our #2 priority after PL.
 
If we can’t win this pile of brick trophy then we may aswell give up altogether.
