The Cricket Thread

Shocking afternoon by Australia, however if memory serves correctly they were in nearly the same situation in the first test and managed to dig themselves out of it.

England need to push and finish them off, then get back in and bat for a day or so. The batsmen need the practise.

Loving it!

That turn that Swan got earlier out of the rough patches was incredible, I though it had hit Agar's pad ffs!

Ah balls.

I blame Watson. ****.

Don't worry, whatever Watson has it seems to have been contagious.

I can't work out whether it's just that the batsmen have been crap in the ashes thus far, the pitches aren't as good as the media seem to keep stating or if the bowlers just get their plans bang on.

Plus its not the fashion any more to force a follow on, don't know why but there is nothing like betting a team by a innings and x amount of runs.

Agree with Marky. If you wanna be short sighted and claim KP 'isn't a test bastman' based on his last 4 innings, I guess you'd have to say the same about Cook and Trott.

Runs in first 4 innings

Cook: 83
Trott: 106
KP: 85

His average has been steadily coming down though - used to be mid fifties not too long ago I think.

To be a top batsman these days you need to average above 50 really although that stat can be unfair if you had a tough start to your career then that can forever hold you down but if you look at Amla, Kallis, Tendulkar etc they are all into the 50's average wise and Cook is almost there too.

Agree, above 50 = world class

Players still playing with above 50 average

Somebody has written (DRS Specialist) next to Michael Clarke's name hahaha

Yeah defo makes sense, means that there would be about 10 world class batsmen around which is about the right no. Surprised Sehwag is still above 50 (albeit slightly), he's been poor for a long long time and has now been dropped.

Kalllis is the man, averages over 56 and has nearly 300 wickets in tests.
