Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

They already have a lot of players for that position.

Plus don't we get first dibs on all their players?

Marin, Hazard, Lampard, McEachran, De Bruyne, Malouda, Benayoun, Kakuta, Ramires, Sturridge. Plenty of options in attacking midfield/ wide forward areas. Even assuming they get rid of Benayoun and Malouda and phase out Lampard, they'll still have McEachran, De Bruyne, Marin, Hazard, Ramires, Sturridge and Kakuta.

Oscar would certainly struggle to get any game time at all there, alongside working in a noxious environment and playing in Chelsea's distinctly unattractive 'let's go nick it' style. Hope he realises that.

Luka isn't at the training ground today

Now, I'm no ITK, but don't players usually get extra time off if they've played in a tournament in the summer?

Edited for epic grammatical fail. It was an early start today. Teething bairn.

Head coach .... Perhaps it's because he heads up various coaches eg first team coach, youth coach and reserve team coach if we had one. Makes sense if we want to develop a playing style that we can implement through the academy like how barca does. Imagine if he downloaded all that brainy football stuff so that we can hardware it into the fabric of the club.

Two different places now. Automony are staying as club sponsor for one more year. Something's gone on over weekend on sponsorship

AVB´s problem at Chelsea was the senior players. I think although Gallas is still very good and has 1-2 years more in him, we should get rid. We have Vert, Caulker, Kaboul and Dawson. Maybe invest in one young CB and we have this department covered.

That should read "senior players who thought they were undroppable and threw a strop when they found themselves on the bench", I honestly don't see gallas as that type of player seeing as he didn't play every game last season.

Zat Knight has signed a new two-year contract with Bolton.

Cue mass depression among Bolton fans.

Chelsea likely to play a 4-2-3-1, no? Hazard, Mata and Marin likely to be the starting attacking midfielders. Possibly Lampard in there. Sturridge linked away, Benayoun probably unwanted, Malouda not good enough, De Bruyne and Kakuta both young. I would much rather have Oscar than Marin personally and I'm guessing they would as well. Not surprised to see Chelsea go for at least one more attacking midfielder, especially if Sturridge is going.

No we don't, they aren't our feeder club.
If we want any of their playes we must pay what they're worth,
if anything they are likely to hold it against us that we made such a bargain with Sandro.

Still remember Freund's shot against the crossbar against, I think it was Wet Spam, in one of his last games for us. Bummer. I have no idea why AVB wants him as an assistant though - to motivate the troops, perhaps? Do the man management AVB isn't capable of?

It is usually the assistant that's chummy with the lads, while the head honcho makes the tough calls.

Jacob on COYS:

Freund will be assistant.

That would be pretty cool. Doesn't sound completely unlikely, after all AVB got an ex-Chelsea player at Chelsea.

Would probably be involved both with the first team and overseeing the work with youth players, can't get much better praise when it comes to youth work than being involved with the Germany youth setup in recent years.

Maybe he wants someone with some real connections with the club and fans, like at Chelsea. Freund has done quite a bit of work with the youth teams in Germany, could be very capable. I'm just guessing of course, but could also be solid tactically considering how he was as a player.

i dont think RDM was AVB's choice at Chelsea....the club made the choice for him iirc

Despite what some people try and claim, AVB is not a coach in the purest sense of the word. Can you imagine VDV's reaction if AVB was to tell him that he is striking the ball incorrectly for example?

The Manager doesn't need to be a coach, all he needs to do is have coaches do to the day to day technical coaching and he expresses to his coaches what he wishes to implement. If you like, he is the Project Manager whilst the coaches below him are the technical specialists.

I do not understand by what you mean by "purest terms". Even if he is not a technical coach I would suggest he is defintely a tactial coach.

One would expect that by the age of 28 are manager/head coach will not be telling any of our players how to strike the ball
