Set Pieces

Kaboul is our biggest threat up front and biggest hope at the back from corners.

He should try running in, full speed from the edge of the box....who the f#ck in their right mind is going up against that!?

There are so many good ideas on here (apart from the one about Kaboul taking corners) I am really surprised that no-one on our coaching staff can come up with a few corner kick regimes. I suppose Bond, Allen, Ferdinand, Sherwood et al have never taken a corner kick between them. How about poaching a corner kick specialist from one of the top clubs or else totman or dubaispur from here. They surely cant do any worse than our current jokers

Gazza's corners were perfect, he used to smack them fairly flat but they would bend toward the ground when they passed into the six yard box. Attackers just needed to get the swede on it, horrible to defend against.

With fast wide players who like to run with the ball, we not only get a lot of corners but a lot of free-kicks. Jesus Christ if we could just make a half chance from about one in 10 of them then we'd score from a set-piece practically every other game. Why don't we practice them???????

Disgraceful. Corners and offensive free kicks should be an advantage for the attacling team. We must be one of the poorest team on them in Europe

Why dont we just post someone IN FRONT of their first man. He can then flick on anything that drops short whether intended or not. So simple.

I didn't watch but I read VDV took some very good corners but we just had no one attacking them whatsoever.

The problem is we take outswingers because we have VDV taking them from the left and mods from the right they are easier to defend against than inswingers. This is common football knowledge that you don't need to be paid millions to know.

Short corners are a good way of keeping possession, and a defender on the front post to flick on would help I'm sure.

Actual VDV hit a few decent ones in tonight, but unfortunately the one time we attacked one (Kaboul) it was blown up. Mostly they were crap though.
