Politics, politics, politics

I think that was speculation, but the actual 2016 figures showed recently that Britain (and France) was still quite a way ahead of India

Of course India will overtake us in the coming years, but that's just the industrialisation of the (former) third world. Japan is dropping relative to the rest because it's no longer pursuing growth so aggressively, and France doesn't grow as quickly as the UK because its more socialist.

Cant let that one slide - "France doesn't grow as quickly as the UK because its more socialist" - Germany are also more socialist and have a higher growth rate graph it here: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/gdp-growth

I don't think you can ever regret regaining the power of choice.

I believe in liberalism over utilitarianism. The freedom to choose over ignorant bliss. The red pill (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_pill_and_blue_pill)

The mistakes and successes will come in what we do next. We could become a driven economic powerhouse like Korea/Signapore, or retreat a bit and become a content Scandinavian type place, or lots of other things between. But now we can decide our own fate.

No need to leave the EU to do that - Sweden, Denmark and Finland are EU member states, Norway are in the EEA. It's only our own government that prevents us being more like those places.

I think the Germans have the right balance. Their workers and owners work much more constructively in partnership.

In France the unions preserve the 35 hour working week (compared to our 48) and are constantly on strike. We are too capitalist which creates a no engagement culture, which reduces productivity. So France are too socialist, we are too capitalist and Germany in the middle have it about right.

Damn them pesky Ruskies.

The Lib Dems are having a right go at stopping Brexit and are pushing for another referendum.

It's ok, they are counterbalanced by their peers the DUP

But at least they are being true Europeans and keeping with the spirit of, if you don't get the answer you want, bully the disobedients then keep re-asking the question; or if that still doesn't work, go for treaty change (see the European Constitution/Treaty of Lisbon c.2005 and 2008-9).

Who? they are finished as a party, they blew there lot teaming up with Cameron to save his job.
I wonder if this could be the single message that may make them relevant again? I can imagine a center left/right remainers changing from Tory / Labour as they see BREXIT as the key issue of the next general election. Would they be more likely to vote - I can see the value to them in it as the status quo is no good to them.

theres a lot of space between the controlling interests of the dominant two at the minute

Brexit will be finished 14 months before the next election.

They would have to campaign on starting the process of rejoining the EU, which would have to include the (even more unpalatable to the electorate) Eurozone and Schengen

Maybe not sure we'll be able to keep to the timeline
