Our fans

Looking forward to a good old sing-song tomorrow night. Think it will be a great atmosphere, by both sets of fans

Thank you. I think some of these guys don't appreciate the kind of sacrifices some people make to watch this club. Especially if they want to bring their kids.

Patronising drivel IMO.

If I buy my daughter a toy, don't I derive as much pleasue from watching her play with it as it didn't cost me as much as a % of my income?

Utter utter flimflam of the highest order

Why is it always people who dont go to the games who say stuff like this

If you pay for a ticket and boo are you supporting the team? I would venture by definition you aren't.

People go to Spurs by free choice, no one deducts the money from your wages and frog marches you to the lane!!

I'd rather the fickle tossers who boo the team stay at home if that's what the bring to the table.

Just because someone pays for a ticket, it doesn't mean they're 'supporters' in the way a lot of posters in this thread seem to think they should be. Nobody should be booing, but don't expect everyone to be singing and shouting encouragement.

No, but IMO they should!!!! People should NOT boo the team unless they do something exceptionally egregious. It's why, TRAGICALLY I might add, going away is much more fun in the modern game.

I agree personally, I'm not interested in someone booing or slagging players off in my ear all the time. In fact, when it happens, I usually cannot stop myself 'grandadding' them. I know some people subscribe to the 'you pays your money you gets your choice' theory, but for me, just 'cos you've got the power, that don't mean you've got the right!!!!! I also agree with Jordy in the sense that these days, every tiny little thing gets picked to death. It's excrutiating sometimes (even though I'm probably part of it in some way!!!)...

In what context are you saying this mate? I 'think' what you're saying is that for the not-as-wealthy, it's a harder ticket thus when you have it you're less likely to feel entitled? I can see where you might think that, but I would actually say it's more about culture and upbringing than class. If you've been brought up in an 'I'm entitled' culture, then you would (I suspect) tend to be more of a whinger and a whiner when it isn't made the way you want it made. If you're a more communal person or someone who generally aspires to working hard/earning situations, I think you tend to have less entitlement thus would not boo a football team because they haven't scored 3 goals in 45 minutes playing he perfect pretty-picture football you might demand.

For what it's worth, I'm happy, love my life but am not in any way what you would call 'rich' or 'money driven' per se (probably more of a socialist in the way I view things) but I think it's very very unfair to assume that just because some people are comfortable/have money, they're the ones who would boo/be more expectant and less patient. I'm sure a fair few of that demographic worked very hard to be where they are and are probably that much more appreciative of life and it's various pleasures (Spurs being one of them - sometimes!!!!!!!!) thus they'd sing, support and have a good time. No, I think it's the culture of entitlement, and that sweeps the board from chavs and estates to corporate boardrooms and suites...IMHO!

yesterday's game

Was sitting in the Paxton upper yesterday and all game there was a couple of guys behind us moaning about everything. The worse thing was the swearing in front of son, of one of the guys.
Even when we scored, they weren't happy and in fact it got worse. Now i know, we were all worried about conceding yet another late goal at this point, but these chaps were unstoppable.

Don't people realise that we are ahead of the 'curve' so to speak, with all the changes that occured during the summer. If we get 4th this season, this will surpass any recent achievement...and to help us get 4th, the team needs great support.

Re: yesterday's game

This is exactly the reason I stopped going, even when we are winning 'fans' still moaning. Some will not be happy until we are winning every game 5-0. I had a season ticket for ten years I now go to 1 or 2 matches a season.

Some won't be happy then either. They need that unhappiness in their lives for some reason. You see that on here as well, always looking for the negatives.

Same here. I had two behind me as well, constant moaning at everything Walker did, slating Naughton off, criticising Lennon everytime he got the ball, and slagging off Defoe for not scoring everytime he took a shot. Really dont know why they bothered coming in the first place

I think that's pretty much their reason for coming, to vent out the frustrations from other aspects of their lives.

Well said mate, the atmosphere at Spurs is horrible at times, tepid at others, very rarely awe-inspiring. Some parts of the crowd, like sections of the Park Lane and East Stand do their bit and well done to them. But when you look at the passion some other countries' fans have for the game, it's embarrassing how poor in general the Prem now is for atmosphere.

I think we have three big hopes, the fantastic 1882 movement, a new stadium and safe standing.

It isn't that exciting to go to Spurs home games anymore - even Chelsea at home this season the atmosphere was diabolical. I can't be arsed to spend my hard-earned on it - away games are much better, but still nothing special.

You got it PLJ, I'd just as soon use the money to be able to afford a computer and a TV and follow the games in the company of someone who loves the club and cheers them on very game, i.e me.

I dare say I will go the the Lane again, if only for sentimental reasons before they close it down, but most places in the ground I just end up having rows with 'fellow supporters' who really don't seem to have a clue what support actually means.

I go once a month (less now that nipper is here ) but I love it every time. Still a treat for me, win lose or draw. I'd prefer a better atmosphere but to be honest if people want to stay away well good luck to them. Makes it slightly easier for me to get a ticket I suppose ;)

Totally agree about some of the negative fans ruining it though, had a right dipstick behind be in the East Stand for Norwich. Felt sorry for the other season ticket holders around him apparently he is like it every game.

I suppose people should be allowed the freedom to express themselves within reason but what grates is when they just are clearly wrong in their opinion. Whatever any of them, or anyone on here, ever say they are almost certainly not as well informed as the players on the pitch or the coach himself.

If these people are so bloody clever, why aren't they the ones earning a gazillion quid managing their beloved Tottenham? I would bet, like me, the absolute limit of their ability is Football Manager.

I moan at games but not really moaning - its more my mate and I chatting away having a laugh annoying each other.

I go to games to have a laugh and fun and if someone hears me 'moaning' to my mate and they dont like it they can do one.

The odd moan isn't a problem it's the constant moaning everytime something doesn't go perfectly, even when we keep possession but there might have been a better option you get people moaning, it just ruins the game for me.

There's a difference between frustration when things aren't going right, and very audible moaning and over-reactions such as when a player mis-places a pass. They can hear it very clearly, and doesn't help their confidence at all. I try to mutter under my breath when we make a mistake, as an over-zealous reaction has negative effects on the players.

Some people just like to moan, though, they need a slap really.

The atmosphere is terrible, too many fans lack faith in AVB and can't seem to back him. People cite his failure at Chelsea for their right to vocalise their discontent, however let it be known that the current Chelsea squad are full of crybaby prima donna's, who throw toys out of the pram quicker than Adel Taarabt on the bench and run to Abramovich the instant things don't go in their favour. You also have a lot of "old school" fans as well, who would always prefer the cheeky chappy ****erney Redknapp rather than a calculating foreigner like AVB; a lot of people I speak to still would like us to sack AVB and bring him back. The majority of fans, sadly it seems don't fancy AVB, don't want him to succeed; at the expense of our success. People would rather we lose and had him gone than us win with him in the team. This is what's leading to discontent amongst our fans.

I am that person but my mate and I just mess about as I know it annoys him and he annoys me. Like Walker he will be like how wonderful he is while when walker misplaces a pass I mess about with him telling him he should be sold etc. I am having a laugh with mates - laughing in the face of adversity so to speak

Wanna slap me? ooo errr - come on bitch haha
