That would be fine if we played with only one DM, but playing with two we need both FBs pushing on
You do it from different angles - Davies is a decent attacker, but not so gung ho. So you get balance and can defend facing the right way - two wing backs means space in behind, which means the DM chasing backwards....you don't want that, especially against Ronaldo and we probably expected Greenwood or Rashford to start.

You use the two DMs to allow the FBs go forward and Davies isn't a decent attacker, far from it. He's decent defensively and that's it.
 
Lo Celso is pretty much pointless at the moment. He started on the right side and is so easily nullified. Then switched to the left and has disappeared totally.
 
No creator in midfield = brick football.

How can anyone working as a professional football manager still not understand that?
 
We’re doing that thing again, aren’t we? The one when we try to play through loads of defenders on the edge of the box when there are acres of space out wide.
