OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs CSKA Moscow***

We should keep playing him in the same position imo, he's doing damage and scoring goals from there. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Agree, and he works well off Janrock. Janssen and potentially Sissoko help to create spaces for the more slight technical players to exploit. Not that Son is slight, but Janssen holds people off and sucks defenders in. Dembele too. Wanyama can increasingly do the same if he drives forward (he won't be tomorrow). The four of them are man mountains, and often take 2 defenders to close them off, disrupting defences and creating openings.

I think it was a purposeful summer upgrade by Poch. Last season we only had Dembele. Now we have 3 more players who can, in their own particular way, overpower the opposition. Dier probably qualifies too. All players who are hard to tackle and can open up space for others with their physicality.

Poch doesn't usually play mind games...?

On Son he said, "It’s one possibility to play with him up front but we have Vincent Janssen too. Both have the possibility to play tomorrow - Vincent or him.”

I guess with Kane out maybe Poch is looking to rotate them, rather than have Janssen dead on his feet by the city game?

In Poch (and maybe Stephen H!) we trust.

CSK have only played two competitive games in this stadium! Maybe could be like Wembley for us: not quite at home yet. Big game. Lose or draw and it will be hard to progress from the group, but not impossible by any means.

So, this will be our first away CL match since losing 0-4 to Real Madirc in 2011.
Wish we had beaten Monaco in our first CL match at home. Now we will be under pressure to get something against CSKA Moscow. This won't be easy as we have a very poor record in away matches in Europe in recent years. In our last 10 away matches in Europe, we have only won 3, against poor teams like Qarabag, Asteras Tripoli and Limassol. We have struggled against all the decent teams. So, we have to improve on that if we want to get something from this match.

We seem to be affected by a few injury problems now. No doubt we will badly miss the likes of Kane and Dembele. We will need big performances form the likes of Son, Lamela and Eriksen. Son have done well to score 4 goals in 3 league matches. Now, he needs to bring that form to the CL. Lamela assisted the goal against Monaco. Hope he will be back to his best in this match.

We seem to be lacking in options in midfield. With Dembele, Dier and Sissoko out injured, not sure who will be starting in midfield in this match. Still not fully convinced of Wanyama as he makes too many mistakes. Both Eriksen and Alli seems to be struggling to get back their best form. Wish someone will step up and help us to get at least a point in this match.

Our defence were exposed badly against Monaco. We cannot afford to be such careless in this match. Away matches against Russian teams are always going to be tough for any teams. So, Lloris, Vertonghen and Alderweireld need to be alert all the times to guard our goal. They need to avoid making any silly mistakes in front of our goal.

Can see this being a tough and tense match for us. After the disappointing defeat to Monaco, we need to win to boost our morale. But being an away match in Europe, a draw will be an acceptable result.

His English still ain't good, to be fair, so might be saying things he didn't mean. I would be surprised if both didn't start.

Any "t e a m n e w s" yet ?

We need someone to inspire us in this match. Players like Son, Lamela and Eriksen can really inspire us if they are at their best. But new and young players like Janssen and Alli can also do their part by helping us get a goal or two. It is difficult but not really impossible to win away in CL match against CSKA Moscow. Hope we will get al teast a draw in this match.

We should always trust Stephen H

I would agree but Vince looked totally spent on Saturday thought he might bring Jannsen on from the bench?

Isn't playing Alli in CM just as much of a risk as playing Winks, in different ways? Yes Winks is inexperienced, but that's his natural position - Alli is more experienced but you risk him leaving us open and/or just having an anonymous game because it's not his best position.

Poch is always brave, but calculated, in his team selections. And usually gets in right. He may well go for Winks...

Didn't Alli say he played all games for MK Dons in CM?

He also played CM v the likes of Emirates Marketing Project (4-1) and Liverpool at home (0-0).

When he switched to CM v Stoke we looked really good so it can work, different kettle of fish away in the CL though tbf
