OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Monaco ** 22/10/25.

Are we going to make the next round?

I think we will scrape into the Play-off round, but not automatic finishing in the Top 8.

By the play-off round we should more options available, and maybe 2 new faces in the Jan window. This current team wont beat any of the decent teams over 2 legs, but a team with Solanke, Kulusevski, Romero, Udogie and a few others to chose from, and who knows then

We got into Europe’s premier competition through the back door, having finished 17th. Taking a step back, therefore, probably not a surprise that we aren’t setting the competition alight.
Not an unreasonable point but we’ve had a relatively easy start to the competition (which continues with Copenhagen next week). We’re also dreadful going forward. We’re completely devoid of creativity and imagination. Fair enough we’re missing lads but it doesn’t even look like we have the structure or patterns of play yet that’ll utilise those boys’ creativity.

It’s early days for Frank and, despite the chances we coughed up today, we are undoubtedly more solid which is a starting point. But things have got to get better by the new year if not earlier.

Issue is that Richy brings nothing in terms of processing the team up the pitch. He doesn't hold it up, control the ball, get in behind etc. Muani gave the Monaco defence more of a game in a fraction of the time.
I agree that Richarlison didn't have a great game. We have to remember he isn't Kane, nobody is. Also the balls he is getting are just hail Marrys from the defense, in which he is surrounded by the opposition. If you play with only one striker and we isolate him, the way we do, it is hard for anyone to get something out of those long balls. Furthermore, Romero is the only CB we have capable of throwing passes behind defences and he didn't play. But we have 3 central midfielders, 2 forward wingers and even 2 lwbs that have the role of building up play and offering chances to the single CF. That is 7 players that didn't produce anything tonight and that is our biggest problem.

We’ve 4 points more than we deserve in this competition IMO. Lucky to beat Villarreal and mugged Bodo and Monaco for a point. For me, that’s not a tougher Tottenham. We keep playing like this and results will start to reflect performances.
The performances have generally been poor
We looked good against the teams that have come up form the championship

We couldn't string 2 ideas together all game.

We see the players training, all their little drills and boxes and unchallenged shots from 18 yards, chipping the ball to each other, fannying around. But on game day, zilch.

Unsure what to do, always isolated, poor scruffy passes to players who lose it.
On game day they stop every time they get the ball
Almost like they have one drilled to think before every past so play safe, safe, safe
About as much style and flair as Reform

Obviously a decent point in terms of we should have been smashed. But we have two points from two away games against two of the 'poorer' sides in the competition. Would still expect to qualify for the knockouts but any expectations of getting an automatic place should be knocked on the head.

As for Frank, he really needs to have a think about what he's doing in terms of what we do with the ball because it's not good enough and way too predictable. Back to the drawing board....

He's not the problem, but he's not the solution either. He is way too reactive to lead the line on his own, he doesn't have the skills to be an effective target and he doesn't have a Kane-Brain creating space, and while he could probably be useful with a well-rounded altruistic playmaker behind him we simply do not have that player. He will chip in with a goal or 7, but as of now he's not what we (sorely) need.
We will not have another Kane in the near future so get that out of your head right now. He is gone and there is no one like him obtainable. None of the top teams(except Bayern) have a Kane type of player and they are doing just fine. Like I said above, there are 7 players(3 CMs, 1 LW, 1 RW and even 2 WBs) that have the role to produce chances for the CF and they didn't produce anything tonight.

We're not going to get a Kane but please, we can do better than Richy and rather easily at that. Yes a CF needs to have chances created but they also need to contribute, it's not enough to say he didn't have any service the majority of the times he got the ball it bounced off him and he lost it. Compare his 79 mins versus Muani's 29. MuanI wasn't even anything special but just putting in a an average performance him look leagues ahead of Richy.
